Just thought of getting some feedback on what you gentlemen fee is Sri Lanka's most popular if not best known model of vehicle

I've been able to come up with the following thus far - included are vehicles i feel are common place in the island and are known (& possibly which can be identified/distinguished) by all and sundry

Its not really a case of what is most liked, but rather a poll to find out which is best known by people (not necessarily those who are interested in cars or motoring , but more so the general public at large)

Good poll with an even distribution of vehicles, but I'm pretty sure Hiace takes the cake, ice cream and beer keg. :D

i think i have 3 more poll choices i can add , so if you guys feel i've missed out on anything do let me know so i can add it if necessary

glad to see the votes are (bar the corollas!) reasonably spread :)

Bajaj Three wheeler.... I believe out runs all..

- Most everyone has traveled in one

- Out runs all other vehicles models, by numbers

- Affordable, compared to the rest

- .....

I put corolla but now thinking back hang that. ALL bloody BIKERS!! (pulsar's, herohonda's etc) they are THE most common types of vehicles in SL. and I hate them the most. Specially during morning traffic time! <_<

hmmm what i was thinking was more like if one of us were to walk upto any random guy or girl on the road and asked them to point out and identify a vehicle lets say, which is most likely the one they will point out and identify correctly of their own volition - and this should be something that is common not only to cities and urban areas but to rural and village areas as well, hypothetically speaking

i believe most people have failed to see the objective of this thread.penalty of not reading or understanding the post perhaps?

anyways i think devinda is asking what vehicles are instantly recognised by BRAND/MODEL by the masses,it could be because of a particular vehicles distinct shape, popularity or notirity...for instance.it is true that we see bikes everywhere, but how many of the people on the street can recognize a particular bikes brand(tvs, hero honda etc) just by glancing at it...i say againd the vehicles must be recognised by brand/model...not in general.

here's my top vehicles that should be identified by most folks

1.BAJAJ threewheeler

2.LEYLAND bus

3.ROSA bus

4.Maruti 800

5.HIACE dolphin

6."intercooler" pajero

7.Prado

8.Corrolla

9.sunny "doctor"

10.VW "beetle"

11.morris minor

12.mini

I voted for Bajaj Three Wheeler.

i voted for 4dr5(j44 and so on) for obvious reasons, coz that particular model was popular as police jeep and the jeep part was a part of its brand name.

Think I'll agree with Bajaj as the most recognised...

But for No 02, it might be the "Jeep" (4dr5, I think), because we are talkin urban as well as rural and the folk from latter are likely to identify a "Police Jeep" by brand more than a Leyland..

I mean, even if you ask your grandmother she'll know the Jeep, but will simply call Leyland "a bus"....

Usually Sri Lankan car market is a very odd one. There are a number of models that just go up in value irrespective of the depreciation.

But in this poll (so far), Sri Lankan market is in line with the world market. Corolla is the world's most sold car ever (over 30 million cars worldwide).

Three cheers for corolla..!

we're looking for the most recognised vehicle...NOT for the most popular or most owned...i doubt there is anyother winner except the bajaj 3 wheeler...oh well, typical Sl poll.

also i should mention that...all mercedes vehicles in general are instantly recognised my most people out there...there is something about the three pointed car that commands respect from the masses...rightly so,you will definately notice the differance when you transfer from driving anyother car(especially japanese) and in to a merc...everything just feels better!

i wanted to include the "BENZ eka" - but thought it too broad!
