Hi.there.

I.bought.an.EK3.1999.multimatic.recently.but.it.is.very.bad.on.petrol.I.took.it.

to.Stafford>Motors.and.got.an.Engine.tuneup.done....now.it.does.8kmpl....but.Ihear.people

.saying.that.it.should.do.at.least.10kmpl....Should.I.do.an.injector.nossle.clean

up.and.a.tapet.clearance.adjustment...Please.help..

Is the space key on your machine broken?

Bad fuel consumption is a result of Bad car set up / bad driving or both.If you are sure of the driving part,need to re-do the tune up from another place and see.This is harsh- but the fact is ,I came a cross two cars Ill-Tuned by local agents recently.

Hi Madhurades.... join the club ... mine ia 2000 Exi & does only abt 7.7 - 8.5 in colombo & abt 10.5 to 11 out station.... tried tuning @ agent... then from Upul & Rohan but no luck.....

is your gearbox in good condition ??

dude, if its an AUTOMATIC, thats about the figure you can expect in real world city driving.

not yet machan.. Rohan said to run with it till it gets really bad... :-) then i will go with him & get another gearbox & replace it :-)

Well.. lot of ppl said the Exi should do @ least 9.5 to 10 in colombo.. so does the Agent, Upul & Rohan as well.... when i did the computerized test @ the agent .. they said the issue is due to the Injectors been open for longer than usual.. in my case the injectors are open (In idle mode) 3.4ms instead of 2.7 to 2.9ms

no machan.... bit tired of taking the car for checks & tune-ups & not getting any results.... gonna run like this & when it get really bad, then i'll check again :-)

Dint we had the same issue discussed there with ES5 or ES8 model, and agents also unable to solve it, any idea what happened to that case.

No idea.... but these are the days where the fuel economy really matters.. with all these fuel strikes....

Are we sure when we buy a liter of petrol, one liter is pumped in the tank? We always get cheated by the petrol sheds. Change the shed for one instance & check once more. I am speaking of my experiance.

Please check the correct timing - it should be 12 _+ 2

also check the exust pipe colour - if its too black with carbon powder, looks fuel consumption is bad.

try not to exceed yo RPM over 2000. if it can do 13-14 outstation with AC, then I dont think there is a problem. but you cant expect 10-11 kmpl in city traffic bro
