Peugeot 406

Thank you all guys for your kind replies. Yesterday princess came home PEUGEOT 406 HDi D9 2001(yom) 2L with all the documents of history from the date of purchase, original manual and maintenance book. This is totaly carmart maintained car. Owner used the vehicle awesomely. Very good interior condition compared to other pugs I have seen. Orginal paint and few negligible minor dents there on one of rear side door. Few more things I have to fix.

1. On-board display says air-bag fault and dash indicater flashes.

2. Signal/ head light switch not working properly. Even accidentally in slight touch on the switch flashes signals and not auto off when turning back to steering wheel position. (Previous owner said carmart quoted 40k to fix this by replacing the unit)

3. Radio is not functioning. (There is a bill replacing the fuse box)

4. When ignition on dash indicator shows empty oil. But oil is in correct level when checking with oil dipstick.

If anyone familiar with these problems please advise.

other than above mentioned car is awesome. Still not driven a lot until being familiar with manual one.

congrats on the new purchase.

1. Check the status of the airbag ecu from Peugeot planet software.

2. this could be the whole comm unit which handles the wipers/indicators/multi function- get the part no and search on ebay uk. its not that expensive.

3.by radio you mean the whole head unit or the radio only? is your cd changer in the back? also check the fuse according to the manual.

4. this can be oil level sensor or oil pressure sensor.

maintain with some love and it wont fail you.

It is the whole head unit which is not working. Yes cd changer in the back of the car.

Check for the fuse or get it checked by a professional

if its busted just ebay it :)its about 30 pounds average if you can find someone to bring it. Try to keep it original as if you fit an aftermarket cd player the steering controls wont work. (steering controls work for the original player and blaupunkt head units only)

I checked the fuse. There are two fuses 15A and 20A called 'audio equipment' in the manual where the fusebox located under the dashboard area. I checked them and fuses seem to be good. Is there any fuse related to head unit in engine compartment fuse box?

I doubt it. the fuses under the bonnet are for fans etc. change the fuse and see, What did the previous owner tell you regarding this?

Engine compartment fusebox unit has been replaced by carmart. Owner said after that it is not functional. but cannot accept theres no fuse related to the head unit in engine fuse box.

Do a scan test using peugeot planet. It can access certain faults in your audio system.

Does it show a message saying locked? If that's the case would needed to code it to your chassis no on planet.

If there is no power after the fuse box replacement better show someone who knows pugs or car mart

I drove the car about 15km suddenly engine malfunction light came up and display shows 'ANTIPOLLUTION FAULT'. Experienced loss of engine power after that. Then I called the carmart guy who recommended this car said It could be fixed by scanning and also sometimes fault go away according to my driving style. I doubt that expensive repair is on the way.

Symptoms of Diesel fuel pump failing. check the pump pressure immediately!!!!

Antipollution fault is the most vague error message you get from a peugeot. You need to do a scan without speculating much about it.

when that error comes up the car is on limp mode. hence the loss of power. since you haven't scanned the car since your ownership better get that done and check all the vacuum hoses as well.

Hi Guys. pug guy came last Saturday. He is most specialized in mechanical works. but told that he'll bring a electrician with the computer to do the scan. unfortunately electrician did not come. I had to replace the front suspension link coz it gave very ugly noise when driving on rough roads. He brought the part cost around 5900 TRW brand. Don't know exactly the actual price. Then he started fixing com2000 headlight, signal switch. He brought a used comm unit. but it also not worked. seems he is not familiar with repairing electric items, since then I thought not to give him electric related works and finally I decided to get a brand new com2000 unit. Ideal auto (panchikawatta) priced 34500 for a brandnew comm unit but they don't have in stock. I searched web for pug parts and found Hari*chan*ra motors at Panchi, Abayasingharama road near tower hall. I talked to the shop owner and he said they have one unit available and quoted 35K. Anyhow I thought to buy the unit to get rid of this. I asked the shop owner to fix the unit and he gave me contact no. of a person who do pug repairs in Rajagiriya, Darmapala Place. He is decent guy and fixed the com unit and It worked well. and also he did the scan to find the "ANITIPOLLUTION FAULT" and "AIRBAG FAULT". antipollution fault gone after clearing the fault code. he said it's due to wiring harness loose connection in gas pedal and not a permanent issue . Airbag fault also gone at that time, but came again after I came home. He said it is nothing to worry there may be issue in wiring harness. He checked also for the head unit and found no power to the unit and have to check the wiring.

Hi Guys, Can you recommend a place to do Peugeot AC related repairs? My AC cooler seems to be busted. refilled gas 2 times only lasts for 3 days maximum when driving with AC, when not driving and stay at home for 2 days cool become reduced or no cold air. when checking at AC places they said there is no visual sign of leaking but gas may be leaking somewhere else, culprit may be the AC cooler which is under the dashboard. Can anyone know a good reliable place to do the repair especially some one who specialized or having fair experience in Peugeot related ac works if I have to remove the dashboard to check the cooling evaporator? Please help. Thanks.

Can someone tell me whats the 406 Com Model? This is a 2002 car and I need to know how it differs from an usual LX, GLX and and Executive. Did a search in the forum and found out that this model has auto vipers and lights. What else is expected in this??

 LX, GLX and and Executive. = EU spec cars brought to SL used.
