Hello friends,

I m planing to by a car less than 3 ml for personal use. But I m planing to use this for wedding hire too ( with driver). I m not in colombo. Which one is the best option.

white color one.

Mercedes Benze E-220 (124) ( Most probably I have to repaint it to white) 1997/1998 model

Mazda exela

FB 15 New shell.

Highly appreciate your comments

I have seen "common" cars like sunny's and corolla's being used for weddings, but kind of assumed that they were borrowed from a friend/relative and not hired.

In Colombo if someone wanted this kind of car it would be cheaper to get from a cab company than premium rates at a wedding hire service, but maybe it's a different situation in the area where you live (e.g. not many cab companies with decent cars)

Merc hands down. But what about the Nissan Cefero/Blue Bird/Laurel or Toyota MK11. If you are painting, pearl white is very nice.

i suppose for wedding hires you'd need e class W210 or higher. can you buy a decent one for less than 3 mil?

if u can stretch ur budget over 3 mil i guess allion is a very good buy to fetch a very decent hire charge for weddings.

I agree, it should be atleast a W210 to fetch a good rate. Someone who wants a benz would want it for prestige and hence the newer the better. I think a pre english number pre facelift could be bought for around 4.0?

Hi, was the car registered in 97/98? The W124 stopped production in 95 as far as I know (1995 onwards it was W210).

The 124 would be a tad too outdated. A 210 would still be quite good enough (compared to the Mazda and the Nissan) as others have mentioned.

Go for 240 White Allion....2002 model can be purchased around 3.3Mn......FB 15 new shell is also another option...

Sorry, but no-one getting married and who wants to rent a car of which the value would be around 3.0mil, i dont think anyone would 'rent' an allion. They'd just borrow the allion from the uncle living down the road. Most people live within a stone-throw of house that has an allion, or knowns someone who does :P

There's a really nice W126 for 2/3 ur budget which IMO would be wayy classier to be driven off as a wedding car. The length of that car makes it amazingly majestic... There's a nice silver W124 for 3 mil too... It depends on what crowd(budget) of wedding you're catreing to and how foten you do it. Is this yoru business? or just wishful thinking for some extra cash?

But at the same time, OP says he wants to use it as a daily runner... Two very different needs..

you'd be surprised at how many people pick 121s and the like as wedding cars, and rent them too! Ask Milindu, for some reason these things are quite popular for the wedding runs.

:) Allions are indeed becoming so common (at least in and around Colombo) that it's not worth to rent at a premium price.

depends on how rich OP is; my neighbour (rich bugger) was using a chrysler 300c for his daily running.

I have an opinion about all of them.

I swear to god, if someone brings an Corolla or an Allion to a wedding I'm covering, thats one set of pics of that wedding that is not gonna exist! Ask a buddy of mine who thought it would be a good idea to bring a Geely Mk II or something like that. He heard from me before he even got into the car!

OK, BMs and Mercs are ridiculously expensive to hire for weddings, but I'd rather my friends decorated a three-wheeler with balloons for me to go off in than get a Corolla.

Of course, I wouldn't mind using a T-Top. Hint hint. ;)

You are quite right. You boys (corolla, allion critics) are forgetting the fact that there's a group of people who can't afford to have a wedding in hotel with star ratings.

Thanks, but I'd rather not be bombed by crows while wearing a good suit! :P

Hence, three wheeler! With Balloons!

Tho I think the point Dilesh in particular was trying to make is, its not a car you hire. If you use an Allion or Corolla, chances are its yours, or borrowed, not so much hired. Tho Supra says its not quite right an assumption.

As far as me, this is a very recent thing. I think it comes from having to read however many threads EVERY FREAKING DAY about Corollas and Allions.

I think all Allion drivers are idiots with too much money and not enough taste... ;)

Wanting to own an Allion is like aspiring to be a Retard when one grows up... ;)

Have you seen the type of people who drive them?

My humble biased opinion only... ;)

Exactly why i asked what kinda weddings he was looking to hire to..

But if you're buying a 3mil car, and planning on renting it out, you'll surely get more from a merc than a 121, so might as well go for the merc...

Not entirely. Milindu has one, tho that doesn't really count since its one among many :D One of my friends had one too, but he got that some years ago when it was still a fairly new thing to the country.

Thing is, its not that bad a car, if you just look at the car :) Its just the money thats paid for it, in a market with plenty of choice ....
