Recommended Posts

Gentlemen, I use a hilux ln 107 ssrx which was bought just last week. I used to have a chevy cruze which didnt put me on the lookout for specific resource people.

Now for this new ride, i need few tips as to who are the best resources in town in the below areas;

- mechanical

- electrical

- interior

- spares

- accesories

thanks in advance if you can help.

The 107 is a very sturdy piece of kit & in general will rarely need a visit to the garage :)

PM "Supra Natural" on the forum - he's got a 106 & will be able to give you details on where bits can be sourced etc

As for mechanical repairs, you can contact forum memeber Prasad Rajakaruna - he's sorta a Toyota specialist

Congratulations on your buy!! Does your's have the Chrome or grayish Rollbar?

Superb vehicles them pickups :)

We used to have a LN107, was stupid and sold it. So now have a LN109 and totally love it. :D

As of spare parts, from my experience, mechanical/ electrical parts are readily available. But, it can be a little bit hard to find body/ appearance related parts.

For example, I have been trying so hard to find (second hand of course) a front Bumper, rear Rollbar, 107 Grille, genuine Tail-lamps and some other misc/ appearance related parts, as mine has a different face off of a Hilux Surf. So far I have only been able to find a LN107 grille.

They have plenty of Hilux-Surf/ TOYOTA 4Runner bumpers, grills etc.. and they are compatible. I have replaced my dashboard and front doors using parts off of a Toyota SURF too.

Just thought of sharing :)

As far as i know this problem caused by the "load sensing proportionating valve". Some people used to adjust the original height of the vehicle in different ways. If we change the height of the vehicle we must need to adjust the proportionating valve. If not brake distribution will not be in a proper way causing to drag rear wheels loosing traction.

New Hilux manufactured in Thailand found a good solution for this problem. They fix a notice inside the driver's door saying if anybody adjust the height, proportionating valve also must be adjusted. :D

Muditha420, yeah I tried everywhere in Nugegoda + Wijerama etc.. and I have already found a shell/ grille, got it from Kurunegala. I'm Having a hard time finding a front Bumper and Roollbar though. Yeah, have to agree about body parts, the hardest body part would be the rear tailgate/ door. Other than that it's a very enjoyable + loyal vehicle :D

Hope you enjoy the said Hilux Convoy!

Well, I have to say that there was a brake issue on our 107 but not in the current 109. I always thought that it was because it had 16", wide mud tires. I could be wrong though. And the previous owner had lifted it so, maybe the adjusted the ride height, as have mentioned by Iroshana could have had something to do with it.

Guys, about the LN 109. Are there 2 types of pickups with suspension and leaf-springs in the rear?

afaik there is one ln109 model and it is with leaf springs never heard about one with suspension in the rear.

I also never heard any 109 with suspension in rear. Even 166 also coming with rear leaf springs.

Yeah, I believe what you guys are saying. Just wanted to clarify whether such a thing existed because, someone had once told me that there were two models.

It's my 7th month with the truck and pretty satisfied with. found it awsomely convenient in and out of colombo.

i've also found it hard to find body parts for 107 cos certain parts are specific and cannot be replaced with surf or 106 versions. sometime back there were couple of 'parts trucks' brought from japan -one in Balangoda, other in Kurunegala- they had enough body parts when i was seraching for doors. dont know if they're still available.

as for the mechanical parts, you got plenty here. but be coutious for the fake spares that come with 'genuine' packaging. even experts find it dificult to make out diferences.

mine had a issue with breaks but that's probably for the normal wear and tear. after fixing [some cracked hose ends, and wornout break pads, shoes], it's all good now. so i dont think there'a any truth to it.
