Recommended Posts

Hello friends

I am a new comer to this site and do not have much more knowledge about the cars

I am planning to buy my first car and my budget is 1.2M-1.5M.

What is the best car model btw that price range?

Main thing is I want to sell that car as soon as possible when i received the car permit from Government

and good fuel economy

Please give me some explanation about Toyota and Nissan cars which model , YOM and etc…

Sorry, i dont mean to sound cocky but this just screams "toyota corolla"...

But seriously dude, considering your lack of motoring experience, fuel efficiency and resale, i dont think anything else fits as well.... i'm guessing the model to go for in that price range would be a 110?

if high resale and goof fuel con is in your mind...corolla AE 110 is the best bang for the buck...you can go for a nissan B15 i guess but i dont think all nissan's does well on fuel...

Oh yeh, 15 never did for me too as my first one.

Go for a Honda bro...EK3?

The thing I dnt understand is why people recommend Toyota when when these powerful machines out there with good fuel economy.

sorry guys, never used a Toyota, My Honda will never let me down I believe.

To help you understand why people recommend a Toyota Corolla maybe it would help if you READ what sanjeew wanted.. (not what YOU wanted)... Did he mention he wanted a powerful machine? no he didnt!

And....There's no possible way to boast high performance and high fuel-efficiency, you DO know that right?

honda's are powerfull yet good at fuel(ek3)!!!!everyone knows that...but i remember that sanjeewa mentioned that he wanted to SELL THE CAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WHEN HE GETS HIS PERMIT(the main reason)..

so thats why we both recommended the toyota corolla..which has a resale market similar to cupcakes over here...hehe,...

you can find an excellent condition of 96'/97' Toyota corolla AE110 non crystal light model ( SE Limited/XE Limited) around 1.4M to 1.5M. Also 99"/2000" corolla wagon type of the AE100 model ( L-Extra / L-touring / G-touring ) around 1.2 to 1.4M

In Sri Lanka ,yes U will never understand. Neither do I ,

Thats what we called marketing in developing countries.

Quality =same Market<> :action-smiley-060:

Guys, Don't u think that the Totota market in sri lanka has inflated due to peoples misconceptions abt certain brands?

Yes. In fact, so has Honda. To a lesser extent Nissan. Hence Mazda is the best of the bunch in value for money.

You don't agree the the Honda market has been inflated? When a 92 EG Civic can cost more than a 97 FB15 Sunny?

I dunno about Colombo and outstation, but if you look at the threads on AL, you find way more people asking questions with the aim of buying a civic than anything else, and that includes the Corolla!

Hey dude, Cheers for your new car !!! :jumping-smiley-013: Go for a Toyota Corolla 110 or Starlet EP91, Those cars are the best for your budget and also you can resale them without ANY TROUBLE !!! Fuel economy is totally superb !!! B)

There are several reasons why certain toyota brands have a better resale value in SL

1. Generally most toyota models with 1,600cc capacity or lesser tend to be more fuel efficient that its counter parts

2. Wide spread availability of spare parts have made overall maintanance cost cheaper

3. Most popular mass market vehicles are toyotas (CR42, Hiace, corolla's)

4. Toyota has been successful in the SL market longer than many other good jap models in SL currently. This long term success story has created a strong market perception

It should how ever be noted that not all toyota models share the above success story (For e.g. a 2003 camry sells at almost the same or slightly higher price than the corolla of the same period in the second hand market)

yeah thats right!! just see the price of a EG8.. its expensive than other models in its same age...

i think thats bcoz the huge market for eg8(which created recently) in sri lanka..

hahaha...i was upto say that..

but i have to admit that the eg8's are one of the most good looking cars of that era!!!

NSX, skylines, RX 7 etc are all in that era too i believe and they look far better IMO!

actually the EG8 doesn't stand a chance with those cars and i'm sure there are plenty more! :P

You Forgot the 300ZX, Supra and MR2!

And if we're talking cars in the same category as the Eg, how about the Sprinter MArino and Corolla Ceres? Much better looking IMO.

However, it IS a fact that the civic was the first of the jap compact family cars to break with the box look and introduce curves.... That was in 91. The others came out later than that.
