  1. more than anything else the actual 'washing' of cars at these places leaves much to be desired. its a well known fact that you shouldn't wash your car if the body is hot, but a lot of these places don't have shaded parking and after a long wait, you end up washing a hot car, which means you get streaking. secondly a lot of them use sub standard car wash products, and horrible rags to wash and wipe the cars instead of wash mitts and chamois. the idiots at the car wash just try to get the job done as quickly as possible with minimum attention to detail and rub the cars too vigorously. the result: you get scratches and swirl marks. the car ends up looking in worse shape than what it was before! my take on this is invest in a quality pressure washer, car wash liquids, wash mitts, chamois, microfibre and do it at home. good for your health and your wallet!

    Nissan Beetle Ak 12

if its a 2002 model you are after, i doubt you'll find any unregistered. i guess the unregistered ones you see here are 2007 and up. there are no issues with the intelligent key, most new vehicles have it. the only thing is that it sometimes does not work in high security areas but then you can open it manually. most cars are auto and do around 8-9 in Colombo. unregistered i would think would be around 2.3 mil, and registered examples would be around 1.4 and up. its not a bad car by any means. i know of so many ladies who have owned one. even with minimum maintenance they don't have any serious issues.
  3. that's good to hear. Further proof that the agents havn't really upped their game yet. monitor for a few weeks though.
  4. what part of the suspension needs to be replaced? Get a list of stuff that needs to be replaced, take a trip down to Panchikawatte and buy them yourself. Then get it done outside.

    Bmw X1 Vs 318D

Must be 318i. Can't imagine the diesels or the bigger petrol variants going for that price.

    Bmw X1 Vs 318D

Are those really the prices for a used E 90? I would have thaught they'd be 6.5 mil upwards atleast for a good example. I know of someone who had a mint low mileage 2003 E60 and that changed hands for just over 7 mil. that was only a few months ago. let us know how it goes!
  7. agreed. Nano Wax is a great cheat wax. Does a decent job in hiding the lighter swirl marks and gives a nice shine and not much effort. I use eagle one wax as you dry weekly, nano wax every 2-3 months and get a professional job done at P*tstop, A*to Mir*ge or KP once a year. Saves the spine!

    Kia Sportage

one of my friends has ordered a Sorento and the waiting list was about that time. But I have heard all the agents have long waiting lists at present. Seems there are enough people in SL who can finally afford a brand new car!
  9. ROFL!
  10. there is no such thing as lifetime oil. what it really means is that it lasts the lifetime of the vehicle warranty which is 100,000 kms or X number of years, whatever comes first. Change your oil to be safe, you can never be sure if the mileage on your car is genuine.

    Hummer Limo

its going to be good fun for the present generation of rich kids who wants to party and make it a big night out! sigh in our time it was all about 5 boys cramming into a 3 wheeler!
  13. and for heaven's sake its spelt PRIMERA! Can't understand why most people can't spell the name right even when they own it for several years and put it up for sale!
  14. in most cases its not the cars but the owner's negligence.
  15. where did you get it serviced? If its a reputed place or the agents you really need to make a big fuss about it. you can try disconnecting your battery overnight and see if the light comes back on. if it does there is a chance you have a faulty ABS sensor which needs to be replaced. get it checked asap though, don't compromise on your car's safety by having a faulty break mechanism. agents would be the safest bet to repair especially if its a new car.
  16. no experience with the new sunny but 3.6 seems good value for a brand new nissan, especially since its in the same category as a unreg Axio. Don't be too depressed with car prices. It was a lot worse before!
  17. Yes if you look at some of the reviews on JDM cars, the new Skylines and Mark X were designed to compete with the entry level German sports sedans in the Japanese market. Of course an European executive car should still give you better driving pleasure. but these JDM's are priced lower, have very decent specs, are fast and handle well and are supposedly more spacious.

    Express-Way Updates

very nice. have they confirmed when this will be open?
  19. OP if you are asking about fuel economy you really shouldn't be looking at any of these cars! you can compare a teana to the camry. both are comfortable luxo barges and are meant to be driven in! the new teana in particular looks gorgeous and nissan has done a top job on the interior in particular. the mark x more a drivers car and competes with BMW 3 series, Skyline V36 and Mercedes C class in the japanese market.
