Quick Trivia 3

Wasn't this the Frankenstein can that was powered by a Mitsubishi engine, had the front end of a Corolla Altis (E120 series) and the rear of a Fit Aria/City ?

Used to make fun of it by saying it is called F3 because it is the Frankensteined creation using 3 different cars :D

I think @Gummybr - it's your turn

BYD G3 it is.

Hope its not going to be a challenging mountain to climb this one, assume it will be easy. Most ones in Sri Lanka came with big V6 engines initially but later on moved to Diesel engines.

A sporty mountain, to be specific? Or maybe a sporty wanker would be more apt (taking into consideration a post on this thread a few weeks back)

Always loved how the 1st gen looked, especially the rear end

Yes a Sporty Mountain or a Challenging one. Montero Sport or as they call it in some countries the Challenger.

And yes I love that gen Montero Sport as its looks a very tough and and has better off road credentials than the model that replaced it which for me was very soft.

Here’s the next one, once again found it through a page on insta

Apparently the only one in SL

Should be an easy guess given its resemblance to the model it’s based on, which is quite popular here IMG_6326.thumb.jpeg.ebb657eb1aba851cf10359a352ee0bb4.jpeg

Actually there are 2 known of. This one (diesel) and a black one with a gasoline 3.4L V6.
They are both pre-facelifts.

Sadly, this was the model that killed the model's existence in Japan and almost all other markets it was available in, except the US and the Middle East. After detaching from its truck-based roots with the previous gen, it was a cheaper, lighter variant of the mid-sized SUV it shared the platform and components with. With this generation, it was as expensive as (at times even more) its platform-sharing SUV sibling. So, people opted for that instead.

I see, makes sense given the popularity of the 120 series

Pretty easy....one of those cars that look better in person than in pictures..

One might consider it looks ionizing/ has quite the polarizing design. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m sure there’s someone who’d buy of these without a second thought.

I’m in love with the side profile and front tho, not so sure about the rear.

Then again, I’ve never seen it in person but sure do think the streamliner design is pretty cool, glad it’s making a comeback. Rear end reminds me of 911s for some reason. Still, love the way the Prophecy looked a lot more, but then again most vehicles look nothing like their concepts, so props for even making it look this close.

Have seen its cousins/ siblings in person tho. If I’m being honest, the 5 looks way bigger than I’d expected it to.

Here’s the next one, found it listed on classifieds for a pretty exorbitant price, but ig there’s no price for rarity. Still skeptical someone will cash out that much

Yep that’s right 😂

IMG_6402.jpeg.239b729304d7bbff7e67c68ce7f036fe.jpeg

I first thought they’ve added an extra 0, but then realised that’s a bit too cheap in our market (and typed it out again in words in the description) Still, 42 mil?!? 😭 It’s a 30 year old car, and it’s not old or rare enough to be considered a classic either imo

I was already questioning my life choices and was thinking my degree ain’t worth all the pain, so if anyone actually buys this for the advertised price I might seriously consider giving up and start buying and selling vehicles 😂 Cars actually seem like viable investments here given how they just never depreciate 🫠

Ah they are the ones who guide you in the Himalayas. Can't understand how they are related to our local lorry chassis buses that our guys love.

Right - let's change things up a bit since we've been focusing on headlamps and the like for a while now. I'm not sure if I'm breaking some original rule we had in the trivia but for variety's sake I'm going to post an engine bay - again a very common car that most of you would know very well.

You have to guess the ...

Exact Engine and the Exact model (body style variants are allowed )- you win a whole coconut.

Exact engine and a Different model running the same engine - you win half a coconut.

Different engine from the same engine family and  a model running that engine - you win half a coconut.

Just the model  - you get to choose between a small bag of grated coconut or a small bag of freshly made pol sambol by yours truly.

Sunny B12 with an E15?

Lettering on the head cover helped massively, wouldn’t have known where to start otherwise 😅
