'fatjoe',

if I am not mistaken this Yaka bass lived in close to Maradana on Darly road some time back he sold his property and went to katubadda I have not heard any thing after that.

If you want a mechanic I can send you a person who do old carburetor vehicles to your home. he comes with his son and do the job.

Sylvi Wijesinghe.

There are several people calling themselves yakaa bass nowadays, but as far as i know the original yakaa bass is long dead.

I assume you're referring to the mechanic who has a workshop near Piliyandala (along Katubedda road) where they do lot of suspension related repairs / modifications and refurbishing suspension parts.

Got few works done through him and got to say very capable fellow. He ain't got any sweet talks nor PR, rather he don't give a damn about you but will do the work precisely.

I really don know why he's called yaka baas neither I have ne job to be get done by this guy. but he was shown on tv the other day (swarnawahini autoweekend) with an old Pontiac, He surely had resemblance to a Yaka and fitted harshan's description abt his attitude.

Wtf is a yaka baas? Is this the predecessor of the maka baas?

that is what i am thinking as well....i mean if we can refer as some one's son or the fellow who does this type of car we can find him...but when you call yaka bass.....sounds to fishy :speechless-smiley-004:

Yes the person who was on Swarna**hini with his old Pontiac is in Suwarapola,Piliyandala.(and he is referred to as Yaka basunnehe for his looks !)

He has had his garage there for a pretty long time(as long as i can remember) and is very capable.

Hes on the Piliyandala - Moratuwa main road about 3Km from the piliyandala town.

Yes

precisely, if you're to get a work done from him, you will have to leave your ego and his attitude aside and get it done for the merit of the job.

have seen how he locks the repaired ball joints. Usually an ordinary guy will jump up and down with many hammer shots to lock it up. For him, it was a one or two hammer shots leisurely planting on to the ball joint, its locked.

One advise, don't ever call the fellow "Yaka Bassunahe"
