Crosswind
Hi Guys, I've been contemplating a while to fix seat covers to the Focus. Mainly to protect the leather, which might cost a fortune to restore. Now the problem is the car has side-impact airbags on the seats and I would rather have torn seats than getting myself ripped apart, in case of an accident, by obstructing the airbags. Is there any place in Sri Lanka that manufactures airbag-safe seat covers (the type that gets ripped at the seams to allow the airbag to expand)? There are readymade airbag-safe seat covers in eBay UK, which don't cost too much, but getting them down to Sri Lanka is a hassle. Thanks in advance

All in all I think its safer to just give the leather a reconditioning from time to time and keep it well moisturized.
The Stig
Just a suggestion, cant you just make the seat cover only for the middle part and leave the sides ?
VVTi
Forget about the covers, twice a month regimen of cleaning with quality leather cleaner and conditioner will be a better deal. If you cover the seats, eventually you will end up with horrible seats as the trick in maintaining leather seats is to keep them moist, not by throwing water, but by using quality moisturizing conditioners. If you let them dry up, they start cracking which will happen when you cover them., A good quality leather care kit wont cost more than 3500 Rupees. ArmourAll has a product that I used that I bought from Keels Union place. Works really well. But owning car with leather seats means a regular cleaning of the seats.

HardHat
Yep, covering leather seats is not a good idea - they will soon end up dry and crackeled. If waxed regularly they will last a lifetime. Besides, you spent more to get leather seats - why cover them?
