Hi Every1,

Say if all 4 tires are inflated with xx psi & after about 1 month, the air pressure of all 4 tires are (xx-2) psi.

1. Is this a normal loss rate?

2. How frequently should we recheck the tire pressure normally?

Good that all get reduced at same level.

Yes

2. How frequently should we recheck the tire pressure normally?

At least once a month. No harm checking it once in two weeks. Also better to check it before a long drive.

Your observation lacks some important data.

1. Was the temperature (tire, ambient) same at both times? If you filled up the tires in the middle of the day when they were warm and measured following morning before a drive then you would have got above difference anyway.

2. Did you use the same meter to measure pressure? Two meters are not the same and there can be calibration errors.

Even if you had a very nominal loss it is highly unlikely to get an equal loss of 2psi in all four tires within a month.

1. Absolutely normal IMO

2. Ideally it should be checked/topped up weekly (especially if the car doesn't run much). If the car is daily driver, the interval can be doubled.

One thing most drivers forget to check is the air pressure of the spare wheel.

Well my qestion is somewhat related to the topic. I put 30 PSI to my front left tyre. After about 3 weeks when I check the tyre pressure it has gone up to 31 PSI. I inflate my tyres from the same place and this has happened a number of times now. can some member share some knowledge as to why this happens.

I think this can be related to external temperature. Cold/Hot temps can expand the air inside the tire.

And it also depends on the temp of the tires when you inflated them. For example if you inflated the tires after a long journey, the 30psi that was said then might not actually be 30psi as air already inside the tire would have already been expanded to some extent. Temperatures may be the factor of your +-1 PSI you are seeing.
