Sampath Gunasekera
Thanks guys. It was an unforgettable day for me. Wife faced the situation called "water bag breaking" at 4.00am. I had to fly to the hospital with hazard lamps (double signal lamps) with honking. It took only 15- 20 minutes from Ganemulla to Narahenpita, even first half driven at lower speed. Mother and baby both were safe after emergency Cesarian surgery. Since we are having some Doctors here, please enlighten us, (1) How to face such a situation? (2) How to carry such a pregnant mother in a vehicle? (3) Any other useful points. I am sure this thread may help to save someday someones life. Thanks. Charith H Jayasinghe
"Rupture of membrane" (water bag break) Can be due to several conditions. Some of them are emergencies but in most of the cases, can wait and see for about 2 weeks. Best thing is always go to nearest hospital with facilities(for example at least base hospital with a VOG) at first. After assessments are done then decide to go to a preferd hospital. There are some conditions which need specific body positions but "Left Lateral Position" (Lie down so that left side of the body facing downward) is good for foetal blood supply. Sorry for the low detailed answer, at the moment on leave. I'll submit detailed answer later. Hope Komi and H.C. Will contribute.
