Nissan Navara

Recommended Posts

hello guys,

i've been using my car for about 3 years and now i plan to sell it and go for a double cab due to the high ground clearance.also had an idea for a civic hybrid fd3,but the ground clearance........extremely low.So nissan navara is the one which falls in my category in terms of price.also had an idea for a x-trail and rav4.but they're petrol.

what i need to know about the nissan navara,

-maintainence cost

-common faults

-why it's cheaper than the l200 and the hilux

-fuel economy

-is it worthwhile trading my 121 and go for a navara????

i found a complete description about the dpf maintainence in AL and was very helpful.any opinion (specially owners') would be useful...thanks

i didn't get much information regarding the maintainence and the common problems

I have no idea about cost of maintenance. But I'm going to asume the Navara you refer to is the UK import Dci engined Navara.

When buying one of these you need to be mindful about the DPF, EGR and the high pressure diesel pump. The DPF will clog up if the vehicle is contantly run in city conditions, and to avoid this you need to take it out for an "Italian tune up" atleast fortnightly. The engine is one supplied by Renault and while its efficient, some parts might be a bit expensive to find. Body parts used to be expensive as well but now there are a number of suppliers.

I'd highly advice you against it machan, Multiple systems tend to pack up, starting from 4wd, DPF to the engines themselves, not as good on fuel as you assume, you'll have to stick to Super Diesel / 4star etc

I'd rather go with an X-trail

Maintenance; roughly Rs. 20,000-25000 using original oil and filters ( same as hilux)

Bits are hideously expensive though

Why it costs less; 1. It doesn't have a Toyota badge :speechless-smiley-004: 2. Too many running repairs / electronic glitches 3. Poor fuel economy

If we compare resale potential, your corolla holds far more value.

As far as I know most of the problems were caused by the poor quality diesel but I wonder how it will do with that new super diesel( I assume its good as the diesel found in UK). If the engine itself was a failure I don't think Nissan would fix it to the NV350

but the safer option would be to go for a Hilux

Not just the fuel, lack of proper maintenance,

Chaps here plan to run them like marutis, by the cent, mind you the hilux is not that cheap to run either,

True, probably most of them pumped normal diesel to the Navara which has a common rail engine

yes, true it wont be easy to maintain the Hilux either but then again I think the 2.5L engine does fine with our normal cuz I have seen people pumping normal diesel to Hiace vans with the same 2.5L engine

If you read up on the Australian forums, the latest Hilux has not done well with fuel even over there. The D4D engine is not as hardy as previous generations so you really have to take care of them.

As for all cabs imported from the UK, please note most were used as work vehicles, had a hard life and was exported after doing high miles and the mileage adjusted once they landed. So unless you have a vehicle with proven history, and is inspected thoroughly, be very vary of buying one.

Looks like now its only offered with the 1KD(3000CC) engine, they have dropped the 2KD(2500CC) from the Hiace too.

Yes the 1KD needs more care than the 2KD but you get the benefit of higher power

I assume OP is looking for a registered one, if so he cna find one with the 2KD engine

Edit: Thailand variant is still offered with the 2KD engine
