What can you do at home ? 

Depends...are you a mechanic and do you have a garage at home ?

Other than that...nothing much you can do at home....have you ever changed the AT fluid and perhaps even the strainer/filter plate ? If not  and if you are lucky it could be just that the strainer/filter plate is stuck and the oil is bad and it desperately needs to be changed. If you are not lucky it might have to rebuild the gearbox.
