Hey guys

Im sure all of you have noticed the promotions D*M*s is running for the Jeeps.... some of them look quite attractive..

My father is actually interested in the Grand Cherokee... personally i like this vehicle quite a bit, it seems like a very decent deal, but I dont have any experience of it. so what do you guys think?? apart from fuel (which is obviously going to be quite catastrophic  ), what do you think of the vehicle as a whole??

thanks in advance

On the contrary the Grand Cherokee (latest one) does better on fuel than the Petrol Monteros (3.0 ltr, 3.5 and 3.8).

Something to do with the power to weight ratio.

I can actually, My friends dad just swapped his 2004 3.8ltr V6 Montero for a Grand Cherokee and the economy on the Jeep has been superior to the Montero.

Prev they were using a Petrol Prado (3.4ltr V6) which was even heavier on fuel than both the Montero and the Grand Cherokee.

And Hola the Jeep is a 4.7Ltr V8 not a 3.5 ltr

Thanks for the replies guys... well at the end of the 5 year period you will end up having paid 14 million... if you want to keep the vehicle that is... so its not exactly generous!! but from what i gather, this deal is on so they can move the last couple of units from the existing shipment..

anyway, going for a test drive today, so will keep you posted..

4.7l V8 14mill sounds more like the Jeep Commander than the Grand Cherokee. Is everyone on this thread talking about the same vehicle?

I think S_N is talking about the total payment of 14 mil. including the interest over 5 years which is fair enough (considering leases now go around 20% anyway).

As for fuel figures...again we have tested the Prado 3.4 V6 to do considerably better (5.5km/l in thick traffic up to 9km/l out of town) against the Montero 3.5 V6 (4km/l in the city and 6 out).

yes I was talking about the total payment at the end of 5 years (with interest), and it IS the grand Cherokee... the part thats worrying me is the fuel consumption.. if a 3.4L V6 does 5.5 in city, and a 3.5V6 does 4.... WHAT will a 4.7 V8 manage i dont know...

but as dominic pointed out (confirmed by the agents), the power to weight ratio on the jeep is supposedly better and you dont have to work the engine hard because of the torque, so apparently if you take it easy, fuel consumption will be acceptable.

have to go and see it for myself I suppose

What??? the Montero with part time 4WD does only 4km/l??? That is insane for a vehicle which is 2WD. A permanent 4WD Super Charged Range Rover Sport does the same...

not forgetting that the RR Sport will out class and out run the Montero quite comprehensively & pretty much every other SUV on the market :) (bar a cayenne turbo s if at all )

accoriding to JEEP website its 15mpg for city and 20 Highway.... means around 5kmpl and 7kmpl....

mpg to km/ltr formula -------> km/ltr = mpg X 0.3538461

Machang never go according to the manufacture data... Thats the trick, ask from some1 who has one then decide. Figures change accroding to the driving conditions and the fuel used (specially with the low rating on SL fuel). If you do go with them you'll find some cars doing 45mpg in manufacture data doing less than 12kmpl whereas it should be 15+kmpl.

The only vehicle in which I found the manufacture figures to be close to that of the actual figures was of the Freelander Petrol and Diesel.

there speaks a true Land Rover Head

but I agree totally machan, manufacturers figures are never accurate in SL conditions... Although suprisingly, I believe SL has petrol thats of a higher octane rating than in the USA

Anyway, went for the test drive, found the vehicle quite decent (and yes i DID note the space issue) and now trying to see if we can get our hands on it... keep your fingers crossed guys..

P.S. The Grand Cherokee will leave any SUV this side of a RR Sport Supercharged FOR DEAD!... (with the possible exception of the Xtrail GT and the Forrester Turbo).. its VERY quick
