Not quite machan - different manufacturer...

though these two , much like all the other manufacturers of the day , fell pray to the the monster that runied the British motor industry : "British Leyland" , so they were under the same banner at some point in time...

The picture is of an Austin Healey 'Bug-eyed' Sprite as pointed out by MiniAce :)

No it wasn't... this appears to be one of those bizzare Sri Lankan naming conventions.... Remember those old Morris Oxfords with the fins? they happened to have a Badge engineered MG Version which was called the "Farina Magnette".... perhaps Pininfarina were involved im not sure..

Anyway since the W110 series Mercs also had fins, It's more than likely that somebody decided to bestow it with the "Farina" Moniker

Little bit of who designed Merceds W110

Its the team under then Chief Engineer Fritz Nallinger designed the car.

Josef Müller's head the engine team ,Rudolf Uhlenhaut's team the ride and handling ,Karl Wilfert the style and body engineering and todays well-known designer Bruno Sacco just started his career at Mercedes-Benz around this time helped the overall design of this lovely car.

Pininfarina never involved.
