Aston Martin Cup Asia Championships- Dilantha Wins Again

Velocity

Yup. Early races, it was white, later races, it was blue, so they must have painted it midway through the series.

The odd thing is, there is a Porsche 911 on track, in the background. Was this a test day or were they running the Aston race concurrently with a Porsche Cup race? That's unlikely because Dilantha runs that series as well. Most likely, these Astons were entered in the 'Malaysian SuperCar Series' because the Aston Martin Asia Cup guys run an 'Aston Martin' sticker on their windscreen and not 'Asian GT', as these have.

i noticed the Porsche, which led to further confusion

cuz i was under the impression that Dilantha drove a Porsche in that race series...

..remember that article in papers about back to back wins/races , in a Porsche and Aston Martin...

They had a "Warm up race" before the proper AMAC cup started, in the Asia GT series.

Sunday 13th July 2008 couldn’t have produced two more different and exciting Aston Martin Asia Cup races if it tried!. Rounds Five and Six of the Championship saw six different drivers visit the podium with one dry and one (very!) wet race to entertain the crowd.

Saturday’s qualifying saw Japan’s Kota Sasaki take pole position in the dry just ahead of Sri Lanka’s Dilantha Malagamuwa. Sasaki came to Sepang just three points behind Malagamuwa in the Championship so qualifying augured a continuation of their battle for the top of the table.

Sunday’s first race, round five, was dry and saw both Malagamuwa and Sasaki fall down the order with both drivers suffering punctures after contact. Out at the head of the field is was Singapore’s Mel Choo opportunity to take his first AMAC win of the season followed home by local driver Tunku Hammam to the delight of the crowd. The final step of the podium saw Scotland’s Stewart Seatter after an assured drive.

By the second race Sepang’s North track was awash after a sudden downpour. The Michelin wet tyres were on for a demanding finale to the weekend. The race saw Sasaki and Malagamuwa battle it out at the head of the field with the race win going to Team Reckless driver Sasaki as Speed Sri Lanka’s Malagamuwa took second place. Joining them, it was Taiwan’s Kuo Tong Hsieh taking his first podium finish of the season in third place.

Dilantha Malagamuwa continues to lead the Championship on 74 points, now just 1 point ahead of Kota Sasaki.

The series can be followed on http://www.astonmartin-asiacup.com

No idea dude. I've never even been able to find a torrent. The AMAC flickr stream and whatever than racing prog on local TV (Derana, Swaranwahini? No idea, it was on something) are the only hopes of catching a glimpse.

Sirasa Tv had some motor show where they telecasted the races at latter date , but dunno if they'll do it this time round as well...

First

Great Show Dilantha – It’s nice to know we got a skilled driver participating in international races and winning them – at the same time flying the SL flag is very patriotic

Sirasa shows his races on Sat /Sun called speed sri lanka – watched it a few times and it’s good.

Wish him all the best and truly hope he achieves even greater heights in the coming year
