take 90 % of the Trucks and buses do not have their tail lights working

90 % of motor bikes have there side mirrors turned toward the sun - may be to check the next solar eclipse.

and these motorbikes cut on to the road the way they want and we knock them down and we get the beating.

Authorities need to check these things too.

especially those moped fellas... those fellows don't even have to have a riding license, no registration plates so even if they hit your ride and squeeze through traffic and make a run...there's no way to bring him to the book... hate those buggers

worst scene is that they try to like ride they are on performance bikes

Guys, any idea about the current situation on Emission tests & revenue licence? anybody who was asked to actually produce this certificate by Revenue licence people?

I'll have to renew my one in a few days, and on two minds whether it's worth all the hassle to go for the test....especially when the car is only about an year old!!

as i heard still you dont need to do the emision test to get the licence, recently some friends of mine got the rev licence without the Emision repost

One of my friends renewed the licence recently (about 2 weeks ago) & there was no request for the emission certificate.

Nope, my dad renewed recently and they didn't ask for it.

actually supra...i'm happy that at least we've made a start to tackling heavy polluters on our roads...

So i'm hoping that this certificate thing becomes mandatory ASAP even if it means that i have to sort out a few issues in my own rides

still i'm backing this and also got the car tuned at the agents...

next emission test results will be far better... If not i will get it tuned again...btw i did pass the test too

It's a lil disappointing to see folks with good knowledge about lotsa things and are also into automotive stuff not seeing the importance of having some form of control over heavy polluters

admittedly almost nothing works perfectly in SL but i think it's gotta start somewhere...

I'm sick and tired of seeing vehicles on the road with bellowing black smoke revving away joyfully without a care in the world.

I don't know about you guys but i think it's wrong to allow those things to continue...

The biggest polluters are the ones getting all the breaks on this scheme. More of the govt plan to reduce private mobility. Socialism 101 by Joe Stalin, to paraphrase JC.

new regulations pertaining to emmisions testing , Seatbelts as well as host of other chnages have been incorporated into the Motor Traffic Act following the revisions of 2007.

I've tried to source the act online in soft copy form,but have failed.

It would be great if someone could find it and share so as to enlighten the motoring public on AL before they're inauspiciously supprised by some over zealous cop!

ok boys.. got my certificate... was a little scared as the ride is old.. no CAT.. straight through exahust.. so kinda went to testing station at kotikawatta.. WHY?? becuase my firend had his 12 SHRI one passed there.. so thought that was the best place.

results as follows:

HC (PPm v/v) Standard = 1200

I got at IDLE : 384 Yipee !!

At 2500 RPM : 326 Yipee !!!

CO (% v/v) standard = 4.5

I got at IDLE : 2.2 Yipee !!

At 2500 RPM : 1.2 Yipee !!!
