Ripper
Great work Dilesh on scaled models.... I've seen some decent looking mastos on ebay but those too start around 25-30% bracket minus shipping... that too most folks charge over $30 to ship to sl I've been eying a ford mustang 69 BOSS 420 limited edition made by ERTL but the shipping cost is putting me off The same model is also made by another brand called "autoart" but their prices are quite steeper.... at least the few i spotted on ebay were lot more than ERTL

I would also recommend kyosho and Minichamps for 1/18s. I recently sold two of my models on ebay and bought a 1963 Mercedes 600 pullman limousine made by autoart with amazing detail. Will post pics soon rangerover said: Would greatly appreciate if any one could let me know how to get in touch with the Miniature Model club of sri lanka (MMCSL) Mate have u got the contact? i'll send u a name and a number if not Please do, as the guy i got in touch the last time said he will give my address etc to the secretary few months back, but havent had any response. cheers

rangerover
I would recommend 1. Auctionlady (Hong kong) 2. Shin-mang (South Korea) 3. yj3010 (South Korea) Dont be restricted to sellers. Just get the following right; 1. Use Paypal 2. Always buy from a seller with very good feedback (ideally a professional seller, anyway even if not ur payment is protected by paypal) 3. Always select registered mail with tracking code. If from Uk - International signed for delivery (Royal Mail), If from the US - Priority mail or Express mail (USPS), If from China, HK or south KOREA get ems. In terms of postage, always be careful of excess prices. An average 1/18 model should cost the following; 1. Royal mail international signed for - 18 - 24 (5 - 7 Working days) 2. USPS Priority - $40 ( 10 - 12 working days) 3. EMS - $25 - $30 (3 - 5 working days) Some times the rates can be even lower Edited July 14, 2009 by rangerover

For some reason the ae86 is very high in demand, i presume due to it being one of the classic jap sporties. However $180 is way over the board. You can get it for around $100 - $120 if patient. My advice is always go for a bid if the option is there and save some money than using buy it now

I'm sure many here will have other preferences but my choice would be AA. Their attention to detail and workmanship are indeed awesome. However musn't put down ERTL cause they've got some pretty good work.....they also specialise in more of the rarer models.... GuruG said: Guys 1 question, how the hell do u keep these away from kids. Hiding will not be a good answer. Locking the cupbord will lead to whining. ??? GuruG.....I've found that if you give them one car just to touch, maybe roll along a little, ( under supervision of course) but then gently but firmly tell them that they are daddas cars and are not to be played with, the kids tend to stay away.....yet there is the odd day that all that firmness is ignored.... Better yet get them a cheaper version of something simmilar.......you know the freely available pull back action cars....that helps better than telling them

Thanks for the complements guys Well, most of my models (bought in SL) are Maistos... They aren't THAT bad.. I would prefer to go for the 'premier edition' rarhe than the 'special edition' since the quality tends to be a bit better and the display box is hardier and more presentable. I get one or two occasionally when my uncle comes down from the US. Then when in the US i got myself 4 of these (the Pajero Evo the GT500KR, the Subaru WRC STi and a Mustang BOSS 429 from "http://www.scale18.com/" delivered to a US address, and all 4 of these totally only USD98.00 (including shipping) Most of the recent additions have been from Toys-R-Us in Singapore... I always make it a point to check Toys R Us when ever i'm in the area. Would love to own a couple of AutoArts, but cant quite afford them yet.. Plus photography also tends to be an expensive hobby, so have to manage finances carefully As for kids, well, all my models are in their boxes to protect them from dust, but I do get the occasional youngster who gets curious about them.. but in most cases they just look in awe at the stack of boxes and keep their hands off.
