I'm also looking for a RX-7 in a good condition. What is the current market value for a 1990+ car? I'm not bothered about fuel consumption (not to run everyday) so i don't want to hear that story, but let me know if there are other bad sides of RX-7s.

for an FD , anywhere between 1.7 - 2.3 Million i guess

The rotary engine is a little dodgy if not maintained properly...

there are a couple of old Rx7 owners on the forum, so i'll leave it to them to comment further

I'm looking to buy a Mazda Autozam or RX-7 (1990+) sports car in good condition for every day use.

Any leads?

thx.

autozam's and rx's are like apples and oranges...make up your mind

my impression is that you are a newbie looking for a sunday drive...then my advice is to go for mid size coupe or a fastback

but if you are serious on buying hardcore sports car why not a 300z(honest opinion madz,no advertising intended for our friend)

if still you are interested in a rotary let me know...i know a couple of FC's that are for sale

Lol, man HelRazr you dont mince words huh lol.

But I agree they are two different cars. I have an Autozam and its a daily driver.

The 'Zam is a proper 5 seater and has huge boot space, hence the reason why I have had it for 13 years so far, with two kids ......There's one advertised in autolanka as well. Looks nice and original too.

RX 7 - rear wheel drive, power, two seater. Weekend ghetto blaster. Mainatainence is needed but very rewarding if looked after as I am sure the owners will agree. Saw a nice black 12 shri on the road last week at Rajagiriya. dare to be different man.

Have not seen the super efinis on the roads lately......... any owners on this forum?

Thankx Devinda_Z and others. FC is a lil too old.. FD is what i would go for.

HelRazor >> I'm ok with a 300Z as well.. but what is the price tag on that? Anyway let me know some details on the FCs that you were talking about.

my requirement is a hard core car, need not to be a RX7 (though i prefer that). Currently i own a Honda ES and i have my father's Corolla. So this is purely for something else. My budget is 1.5 up to 2Mil. But i can't spend all that money on just buying it. I'm planning on some modifications as well, so that 2Mil is for everything.

Give your opinion on the options i should consider.

if thats the budget i say go for the autozam, u can do some wicked modifications on that.. and that engine will handle any stress that u put on to it.... RX 7 is a great buy too, but finding a decent one with less trobule is hard.

the one advertised looks in original condition like pradfed said.. which means u can do a whole lot to it..

the efini's are going back to the garages faster than they seem to be coming out :)

i only know of the blue rx7 that is running.. the others are tucked away in garages in various states of repair i'm sure.

That's a shame because cars like that really should be driven and enjoyed!

even your old car is now more of a showpiece, isnt it?

i say we should leave it alone. cos the pristine cars oughta be kept pristine. otherwise they'll fall to the fate of the ones spending most of their lives in garages.

see whats happening to all the EGs in the country? :)

the white one was doing alright for a while and now seems to have disappeared again...

i just realized despite the fact that there were a number of RX7's running about in the late 90's you hardly see one now!

such a pretty car - sad really...

hmmm this gets me thinking...

what say we do a quick list....

19- Dilons old car - Blue

18 - Souhains old car - White

3xx :unsunre: - Red - Veilside kit (Bongo engine? )

your old one - Red

Automatic - Yellow

if its "hardcore" that you want a 300ZX will fit the bill hands down , but unfortunately for you it not going to fit into your budget

base car alone will set you back at least 300k over your specified top end

the white one is still running.. i have seen it at panchiks on saturdays, i think it's owned by pioneer motors (i think that's the name..it's the mazda parts guys)

damitha from advance has a red one and last i heard it has a skyline engine inside it.

The english plated black one is with his brother in law (i believe that is waiting for an engine)

Thx for the replys, Didn't receive email notifications for the replys.. :(

Anyway,

My budget is 1.5M.

Went to see an Autozam (~1.2M) and a RX-7 (1990) (~1M) this weekend.

Both of them are overpriced, I guess. Specially with there condition.

I think Autozam is better option for me, than RX-7.

What is the price rage of 300ZX?

I take it the Rx7 you went to see was a Savannah? Just out of curiosity which car is this?

Please don't take this the wrong way,but I'm certain Pradfred is not going to take offence, but the Autozam despite being a practical car and from what I've heard,a good drive , is far from "hardcore"

The "Z" cars are in another league in terms of power, performance & pedigree.

As for the 300ZX as I mentioned before prices start from 2.3 million for the base 3L V6 & will go close to just under 3 million for a Twin Turbo.

Yeap, it is a Savanna.

Red color one in Nugegoda area.

I'm not really looking for a hardcore sport car.

if your looking for a "softcore" sports car i think even a savannah mabe too much for you...very unreliable those are

yep autozam does sound like the car for you...or try giving the guy selling the lambo-doored delsol an offer, who knows he might succumb...the del sol's a very easy car to live with
