Guys, im buying a used honda civic 2004 which has the following issues i need to resolve

1. Lights behind the guage cluster has faded

2. Steering wheel vinyl is faded

Is there any place i can get;

1. Replace lights behind the guage cluster with new bright lights

2. Restore steering fade using leather treatment or vinyl dye?

How much would a good quality job for the above cost and where can i get it done?

Thanks

Not sure of the set up on a Honda, but most car displays have bulbs which can be replaced. For the steering, there is a rubber based paint (same stuff used on dash boards) that can be used.

I can't speak for the value of the car but the issues that you're describing seems to be more cosmetic blemishes than serious mechanical issues. What I recommend is to have a through look at the car and make sure that there are no mechanical issues. If the car checks out and the price is right, don't let the fact that the gauge cluster lighting and steering wheel fade be the determining factor. The gauge lights can easily be remedied with a little patience and the steering wheel can be either re wrapped or even replaced.
