Hitads is for people who are more in to selling their cars, you know the mudalali types who are trying to sell their 121s, N16s or their Caravans at NEW/OLD prices...... AL is more for good banter amongst enthusiasts....

Big difference. Of course you pay to have your car advertised... But most comes here for the sheer pleasure of yapping about all things mechanical.

I like the way it is. Why change something for the sake of changing?

Don't fix something if it ain't broke!

Calm down princes, I meant the general idea, it looks tacky and old ,at least need the look, this site looks like one of the SL Gov web sites. Ever since I remember it's being like this! Sri Lanka has grown up

Great General idea... But if the website works... what else you want changed. Not enough neon olored banners to your liking? Not enough pop ups? Its a functional, easy to navigate front end.

Of course if you can improve on the idea, lets see your designs.

Change for change sake is not a good thing.

I don't see much issues with the current site as well. I know that its not using any standards (W3C and SEO etc.) but its simple and fast which is important. I do like to see some additional filters in the buy page though (price, vehicle type, model etc.)

I like things the way it is. No need to change when it works fine.

I think the website is functional, and serves its purpose well. Especially the forums (specially compared to the archived Old AL forum).

My only suggestion, and I've been meaning to say this for a while, would be to update the home page, and perhaps make it a little less "busy." The news updates are mostly outdated, and theres a pictures section a little below the forum box on the left, advertising pics from drag racing dated 2005! For some reason, there's also a ton of spam boxes on the middle lower section of the page (I tried this with different browsers so I don't think it's just my computer":

Buy Cialis NO PRESCRIPTION. Buy generic cialis.

Online Pharmacy - prilosec

Online Pharmacy - omnicef

Online Pharmacy - cialis soft tabs. Cialis Soft Ta

Online Pharmacy - zofran

Online Pharmacy - rhinocort. RHINOCORT.

Claritin

The main problem with outdated code is it is easily susceptible to exploits as you can see on the front page.

Frontpage code is already hacked. Maybe the admin should remove those hacked sections at least.

Or the site looks unprofessional and non-serious to newcomers even though not necessarily to regulars.

personally i don't think it looks non-serious and un-pro but i think the comment about first time visitors and regulars does hold water.

those who know AL inside out have no issue but possibly it's not as current as it should be to a first time visitor to spend more time on...

as for me...i hardly checkout the mainpage... it's straight into forums and the occasional peep into classifieds

You have quoted only part of my post out of context. I was talking about the front page which has been hacked. Anybody would agree that a hacked frontpage does not look professional.

The forum ofcurse is professional and great, no argument about it.

Me too until a couple of days ago :)

As far as I can see Autolanka site (not forum) is based on a portal script which was available good 8-10 years ago. It should be well outdated by now. No wonder it is open to security flaws.

If it is too defficult to patch the code Admin should consider removing those hacked sections altogether I think.

Ok what ever U guys are like SL public servants, damn reluctant to change and admit it!

Dude... we are just the 'tenants' in this forum... you have to talk to the movers and the shakers. If your suggestion has any merit, we are certain it will be done. Stop cribbing like the SL opposition about everything... :) Its so gay! If you know what I mean. If this forum is not 'funky' enough for you, I am sure there are many others out there who are funky enough for you taste.

Dear member,

If you want any changes come out point out directly what is good and bad your suggestion to correct any mistakes.

What is the best way to revamp Auto lanka.

To help motorists in Srilanka in their Automobile problems.

As well as the motor traffic law is concerned. As any motorist will notice Traffic Police is working to their whims and fancy's

Then moderators will take care of your suggestions.

Wijesinghe.

You want to see ads on this forum?? Omg that's a nice suggestion, would be helpful for frequent AL users lol

Gotta agree about the forum being simple & working, besides who cares about standards, AL isn't gonna win any web awards, function over form. But it isn't fast all the time.

Yeah, maybe the classified section could be redesigned to be a bit attractive, but it is also functioning at the moment. And would be cool if there could be a section to sell spare parts ...etc separately, maybe like a section to start Garage sale threads like a "Marketplace" section. Or a classified listing option at a lesser price for spare parts.
