I noted some 'intersting' comments coming out on my attempt to share the expereince.

So, if I have hurt anyone, sorry about it, but here is what my driving exepreinces are:

1. In the morning when I start driving rpm goes around 2500+ at 60km/hr until engine hits the right temperatur

2. Once engine hit the right temperature, 60km/hr works with 1200+rpm (in my car)

3. Our road speed limits (as I know), 60km in built-up areas, and 70km/hr in other areas. I maitian this all the time -if not an emergency -then I would use emergency (hazard) lights.

4. I wish I could drive on left track, but alas ! they are occupied by all sorts of road users who travel 1km - <60km/hr range

5. While maintaining the given road rules, if anyone ask the way, I quickly give with safety in mind

That's all I got to say...any other comments after this...you can enjoy.

Bye,

is this right or can people be at 60 at  1200 RPM on a N/A econobox.. whats ur engine sir...

In my case, coz my idle is at 1100 and if I change at 1500, it'll drop too low and make the car shudder.

And quite frankly even if you are puttering around at 1500 unless you stay on the 1st and 2nd the whole journey, you still need to brake frequently. I know, coz I tend to putter around at 1500 on the 5th.

mine idles at 750~1000 depending on how hot she is :P

change to 2nd at 3k and and 2nd to 3rd at 5k(2nd and 3rd have the best acceleration in mine) and the others are also between 3k~5k

those days that you don't feel like it or have jnr in the car, i too keep to the left lane and change at 2k ~3k.

and those morons who hog the right lane and do 30_40kmh....i hope they rot in hell! :angry-smiley-048:

Hi Peri

isn't it too much dude ? might be a silly question without knowing what you drive :)

thanks

regards

sumith

It is sorta high, but that is correct idle for the engine, as far as I have checked all over. Nissan SR16VE engine. It's definitely not made to idle in traffic :)

hmm I get 60Kmph with 1500 - 1600 rpm in 5th gear and while ECONO mode on in D15B.

Any other Allion users on this?

I think Lack of knowledge about Toyota Allion... cause to the hurtful replies.

One of my colleague has 1.5 Allion. I have used to drive it every day with him by on the way to our office. I have noticed it’s only reach 3000RPM at only goes above 100Kmp/h. FYI… :)

No offence, but i think its your lack of knowledge of how a automatic transmission works thats the problem... if you de-press on the throttle gently then your accelaration would be pretty darn slow and gear shifts would hapen at low rpms. But if you step on it even on the first gere shifts can hapen even hapen as high as 4000+ (no matter what the car)...

If your gear shifts are happening at 1500 and you cruse at 60 at 1500, it would have taken you quite a while to reach that speed.

and another thing mr.nevile.. when u are driving at that pace.. i hope to god u are on the left side of the road.. if you are one of those people thank u sir.. and u can merrily go at 40KMPH and no one will bother u.. i hope..

but pray to god if u are hogging the road and using the right side of the road for ur antics... i will defa sweep u to the left.. i hate buggers who drive like thier car is broken and hog the right side...

Totally with you on this. I simply hate right hand lane slowpokes. And it only increases traffic congestion anyway.

Bye,

point 1: you use hazard lights when driving above 70kmph??? Do you know what 'hazard lights' are meant for?

point 2: you may think you're a fast drivers, but everything you say tells us otherwise. So please do stick to the left lane. At least stay there when you dont need to overtake slow' vehicles..

Does Allion has Auto/CVT only.. any manual gear boxes in early models of Allion 2001???

in this case... "CVT" transmission type has no gear shifting points at any mean. only change the gear ratio between a minimum and a maximum value.

I think the problem lies in many people who owns or yearns for an Allion tend to think that the Allion is a state of the art, cutting edge technology Supercar that is 100 years ahead of its time... ;)

Almost as fancy as the Space Shuttle and deserves the same respect.

The Allion is a simple 121 dressed in drag, IMHO. It is neither good as people make it sound or worth the money people spend on it.

And many of the 15kmpl claims are just gross miscalculation or as would Ripper says, Placebo Effect.. :)

A car that weighs over 1000kgs, being pushed by a basic slushbox connected to a 1500cc 4 pot engine will do 15kmpl if it is rolling down a hill in neutral. Not in daily running conditions with AC on, at least half a tank and 2 passengers average weight 50Kgs each and above and our Stop and Go traffic.

FYI... i must have done that in my E36 last week... from Haputhale to Balangoda... :) I swear mine did 20Kmpl... :):action-smiley-060:

Neville, we are not dissing you here, but your claims are hard to believe and the manner you claim to drive is hazardous to many other road users.

In any other country you will be fined for blocking traffic.

Perhaps he's bought Crisco Nihal's Chipped and "Specially Detuned" allion?

On another note, The allion is actually a bit more than a "121 dressed in drag". It was the replacement for the Carina, a size larger than a 121 and is in itself a pretty decent car. Have driven and been in a few and for a mid size jap family sedan it's impressive. High marks for refinement and ride comfort and the VVTi 1500 actually is an eager little motor if you know how to wake it up.

Did Colombo to N'eliya for the mahagasthota race earlier this year in one of milindus. Managed to get there just 5 minutes slower than we had managed the previous year in a certain Black 300ZX.... ;) Got very decent fuel figures too, something in the order of 12-13 (we weren't keeping it under 2000Rpm :P) if i remember right, with 4 blokes in the car! And no, we didnt put it in neutral downhill.

Basically, it aint the "ultra advanced hypercar" fanbois imagine it to be, But it IS a better car than us petrolheads give it credit for being.

Yes you are correct. Why should (or how could we) use more than even 1500rpm on our roads. If done, it will only make you break frequently. There are lot to learn on 'how to drive your car' ;) . The only time you may drive 2000+rpm is on inside the country outstaiton, when road is empty.

Rgds

Ahhhh so you’re the type that hogs the road in the middle lane doing a cool 20 kmph on rush hour simply because you want to salve fuel -

I constantly go over 2000rpm simply because I need to overtake guys like you………………… Mind you your interpretation of a good driver does not necessity mean not revving over 2000

Sorry if I sound retarded -

Friend's Allion has a trip computer displays fuel efficiency... I've seen it show 17 (although I don't know what kind of trip of driving history was behind that - e.g. just after an outstation trip) and another time had 13. I thought it was standard equipment for this car?

anjulau78, just coz its CVT doesn't mean smooth seamless up and down all the time. You give it the beans, you'll feel it change down like a normal auto.

And three of us weren't in the featherweight class! :D Tho I have no idea about the fuel figures.

I guess its possible given a set of circumstances. No traffic, no turning off and travelling down lanes (like start in Wella, stop in Kolpity using only the Galle Road). No signal lights. leave the sparewheel and jack at home.

Maybe a guy who only uses the car after midnight?

My Fiat Punto shows 35Kmpls some times... but in average I get around 10... :)
