    Bluebird Engine

Isn't that the petrol engine? I thought the SU14 had a CD20E, which is shared with SB 14... SU14 & SB 14 are diesels.. and QU14 (bluebird) and FB14 are the petrols... someone can correct me if I've made a mistake..
  2. guess you mean high consumption... not low consumption, eh? ...and this contact with the ECU... hope he doesn't answer to a name called Nihal or something... with expertise in Fibre Optics!!! (Now don't mention the actual contact mate.. think it's against rules )
  3. Ah! that's it... he must be the head of "Crisco", not Cisco.... this fibre must be the stuff that are in the biscuits.. Our bad, guys...
  4. Well said mate.. this comment deserve to apper in home page... But hat's off to Nihal "Mike" Allen .... Logged in to AL after some time, tired of watching political Crap.... and what an entertainer this guy has been.. he might even be among the 22 running for the top job!
  5. well.. a few came under the latest permit as well... I've driven the SB13 and the SU14 (Bluebird) on quite a few occasions and from what I know, the bluebird which came around the 99 -2000 era is a spacious, comfortable car. the B13 Super saloon is a great on fuel economy... both cars are not that expensive to maintain, as far as what I've seen and heard...
  6. Overhaul at 200k, I can understand... but why at 100k+...? meaning the car is so badly used? too much revving ,etc?
  7. towing with the drive wheels up is the recomended method on user manuals I've come across... Believe Miniace has given the explanation for this requirement...
  8. Think I'll agree with Bajaj as the most recognised... But for No 02, it might be the "Jeep" (4dr5, I think), because we are talkin urban as well as rural and the folk from latter are likely to identify a "Police Jeep" by brand more than a Leyland.. I mean, even if you ask your grandmother she'll know the Jeep, but will simply call Leyland "a bus"....
  9. No petrol near SBC / Horton place joint, as per feedback from a friend who just came back.. But relax guys, if you have juice enough for three / four days, this'll be ok.... it's the backlog they are clearing, I believe...
  10. thanks.. what I'm looking for is not a complete dashboard job. this is a fairly new car. I'm referring to the kind of stuff detailing people use during / after a regular interior cleaning...
  11. Guys, I need to find a product that'll give the dashboard a renewed look but with a matt finish. the stuff we see around seems to be focussed on giving it a bit of shine, which I want to avoid. Further, I've heard of shampoo for the dash. Does anyone use these? what are the brands and are they effective in some way? Thanks.
  12. I may be slightly off subject here, but since we are talking cabs,.... what do you guys think of the new "Vigo" from Toyota... seems a good deal at around 4mn? a lot of interest among vehicle sales places... and quite a few ads in the Sunday paper as well... Personally, I don't like the fact that there's no column between front and back doors... safety seem compromised .... it also may be the reason why the price tag is "only" 4mn!
  13. if they cross paths, both may never wake up again..
  14. the one your wife prefers.....!
  15. I happen to know a guy who did this. He hit not only the road, but a electricity post and a wall.... the dude died on the spot, and left a one year old kid to the helpless wife... just don't drink & drive guys...
  16. Why not try the FB15? that seems a more popular one than the N16... and a slightly higher grade than the Vios as well...

    Vechical Full Check Up

I've seen Toyotas in A*W repair place at Peliyagoda as well ... found out later that the owner happen to know the ppl there ....!!!
  18. Not exactly.... his criteria is a combination of "pick up and fuel consumption". Further, there's no mention of comfort...
  19. problems usually depend on the way the vehicle was used and maintained... a badly looked after / abused petrol car is no better than a diesel, in my experiences.. ..and I wouldn't rush into an overhaul, unless I really really have to... it has a probability to give post overhaul issues.. besides, if there's no issue, why try fixing in the first place Petrol and Diesel vehicles of same class usually don't have major differences in maintanance costs... this again based on my experiences... As for SB14 and Bluebird, assuming U mean the U14, both have same engines and are fairly economical... CE 110 and the Gallant are great options to consider as well... Good luck with the search
  20. Did U? what was the outcome?
  21. If you don't mind, what's the budget range you do have in mind? I'm assuming you are new to the SL market... and seem more familliar with $$$ than LKR.. If U need this only for a short period, the ability to get rid of vehicles in this class quickly will be a prob as well..
  22. Perhaps it's not a Toyota... may be Nissan is selling stuff under Vios badge, just to discredit the Unbreakables..
  23. Absurd, isn't it... Primeras and SSS get taxed while the A4 and Passat go scott free...
  24. He can get a Brand new Alto... sports version or something ... with those alloys and the works...
  25. Ah, yes! that's probably the better explanation
