Interested in a Mazda 3. Need help with few questions
mazdaspeed replied to Cruis3r's question in Car Buying Information
Very true and they sell it with an absurd price saying its' one of a kind etc. There was another issues on undercarriage - UK + Salt (roads in winter) etc ... but I could not see not get a better view by simply looking underneath - need to hoist it to have a better idea . The owner had done a complete check on faults etc and seems to be OK - but your point is a concern. -
Interested in a Mazda 3. Need help with few questions
mazdaspeed replied to Cruis3r's question in Car Buying Information
I too checked her out and she is a beauty 😍 - some concerns were those mentioned above and few other minor matters which I noticed. All in all, who ever owns it - hope it's looked after well as it would be sad to see her get wasted. This is not for the Guys who wants zillion KM per liter, and do fancy RICE Mods etc . Hence know the car , do proper research and be prepared for a tad bit high price on maintenance compared to your average T or N branded car ( No offense to them - as I drive an N brand now and know the difference in maintenance costs first hand ) -
May the soles of the car and driver rest in peace 🙏 Life of a human is very precious and it's obvious but also to see a lovely car which was in my personal opinion modified respectfully has also perished 😥

wOw - that's some supper stuff - love the engine bay. Blessing be with her at all times -
As suggested best bet is to take it to the refurbishment place which give a grantee and get the cost. Also see the cost of a recon unit. When buying a recon unit, need to have someone who knows how to check it inspect the unit before you buy it.

Mixing different brand power steering fluids
mazdaspeed replied to AVANTE's topic in General Automotive
Not an expert but if it's a mechanical, you would not have an issue. I have a similar mechanical system and so far no major issues. But just to be safe lets see if any other views come in.- 1 reply

Agree with Stig, It's a common issue for . Seen many with cracked lids due to the heat I presume. Better spend the money on something worthwhile . The rattling noise can be irritating hence I've stuffed it with some silicone strip.

Samarasinghe windscreen may also be another option - I used them many years ago but they have been in business for a long time. Based in Kalaniya near the overhead bridge. Have stocks for most vehicles . Give them a call and see.

Keemg has put it well, I too feel doing it yourself would give self satisfaction and also be easy on the pocket . Below is a link I came across for sealed beams - same principles set by Keemg.

How many times can I apply for the bike practical test?
mazdaspeed replied to froztrandu's topic in Ask for Advice
Sadly I may not have the complete info. I feel using your own bike is the best, as you would be more familiar with it. I assume you are going through a driving school (So they call themselves) - Frankly speaking - you would need to do the necessary investments to the test as in paying off- without that I feel you can not pass. They still ask you to do the figure 8 drive test right ? In my case (Many years ago) they failed me and been a youngster at that time I went up arguing with him as to why he failed me demanding an answer - I had already had the car license at that time and my bike stills were above average. 2nd time attempt, Paid the guy who did it with no issues;didn't even get the chance to do the 8 with the bike which I so badly wanted to do as I had perfected it -
Is it difficult (or impossible) to learn to drive properly after the age of 35?
mazdaspeed replied to DineshKalu's question in General
First and foremost it's a very nice and honest of the way you think . Majority of the drivers don't give 2 hoots about the other persons rights, laws or for that matter life. Getting back to your question, don't stress yourself. My mother got her license simply because she worked for a leasing company then and they had close contacts with RMV - she' s a very competent driver and till the age of 55, she use to drive all outstation locations alone - hence it would not be a challenge . Just a bit of practice is all that's needed to familiarize yourself - you already know the meaning of "vehicle dimensions " most drivers nowadays don't even know the term . Have a L board up when driving and use the signals always when tuning and after a few rounds you would be fine. Good luck -
Hi The below news is form USA but pertaining to Mazda which is a Japanese Brand anyway. Seeing some of the issues on the forum where many have with the newer models, the finding seems to be in line but then again that's another kettle of fish Source : https://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory/mazda-consumer-reports-2020-auto-reliability-survey-74296414 Mazda No. 1 in Consumer Reports 2020 auto reliability survey Mazda beat traditional winners Lexus and Toyota to win top honors as the most dependable auto brand in Consumer Reports’ annual reliability survey By TOM KRISHER AP Auto Writer 19 November 2020, 20:46 • 3 min read The Associated Press In this June 14, 2020, photograph, a Mazda company logo shines on the front of an unsold 2020... DETROIT -- Mazda beat traditional winners Lexus and Toyota to win top honors as the most dependable auto brand in Consumer Reports' annual reliability survey. Ford and its Lincoln luxury brand fell in the survey with Lincoln finishing last among 26 brands after introducing new SUVs. Electric car maker Tesla was second from the bottom with reliability troubles on three of its four models. Mazda took top honors for the first time in the survey, which this year included Consumer Reports organization members who own more than 300,000 vehicles from model years 2000 to 2020. The Japanese auto brand benefitted from being among the smallest and lacking capital to continually offer new multi-speed transmissions and infotainment gadgets, said Jake Fisher, senior director of auto testing for the magazine and website. “A lot of times new technology gives us trouble,” Fisher said. “They're a little bit conservative when it comes to new technology.” Some Mazdas don't have touch screens, which often are a source of problems in the surveys, Fisher said. And the company still uses six-speed automatic transmissions while others have gone to more efficient but sometimes glitch-prone continuously variable or nine- and 10-speed transmissions, he said. Yet the company's cars and SUVs are still fun to drive, Fisher said. After Mazda, Toyota, Lexus, Buick and Honda rounded out the top five brands. Following Lincoln and Tesla, Volkswagen, Mini and Ford were the five lowest-scoring brands. Normally high-scoring Buick jumped two spots after canceling two unreliable cars, the Regal and Regal TourX, Fisher said. Consumer Reports said that the Ford Explorer SUV, redesigned for the 2020 model year, is among the lowest-scoring models of any manufacturer with transmission, electronic, and engine issues. The redesigned Ford Escape also was subpar, the magazine said. Ford's Lincoln luxury brand shares underpinnings with the Fords, so it dropped to last place after discontinuing two reliable sedans, the Continental and MKZ, Consumer Reports said. Closely watched Tesla had problems with the newly introduced Model Y SUV, Fisher said, with many owners reporting issues with misaligned body panels and mismatched paint. One owner reported that hair was stuck in the paint, he said. Only the company's Model 3 small car was rated as reliable and recommended by Consumer Reports. “It's surprising with all the technology on Teslas, it's somewhat the basic issues they seem to struggle with,” Fisher said. Dozens of new models came out last year, and that caused a reshuffling of the brands. Nearly half of the new models have much worse than average reliability, Consumer Reports said. Many buyers check the magazine and website's rankings before making their purchases. The 2020 rankings were released Thursday at an online meeting of the Automotive Press Association of Detroit.

Premio 240 2003 car radiator flush and add coolant instead of water
mazdaspeed replied to Husny's topic in TOYOTA
The particular problem occurred in a Nissan N 16 - 1. My general commute involves about 30-40 Km a day on start stop scenarios hence you never see the temp reach even the 1/2 level. It's only when I hit a stand still traffic jam did the system start to show issues.... but as soon as it cleared ... and I was driving ..... all back to normal.... . the fluid in the radiator reservoir had dropped slightly but I guess I just passed it as a "not a major issue" till I did the long drive . 2. The thermostat is at the end of the pipe going in to the engine. Having spoken to 2 radiator Jonies - both say to remove it as it has no impact on our country unless you are living in N'Eliya - but I beg to differ ... Thanks for reminding this as I had planned to put it back but had slipped my mind - so hopefully once curfew is lifted an the mechanic has his boys in, will put it back on. There is a reason what they include a thermostat and removing it is not the best thing are my thoughts and advice 3. If you have rust , it would be good to get it cleaned, after all you don't know what the previous owner has done. first would be to get the water pump checks by removing it. - If all is in order no issues - the blades would eventually corrode / pack up as I faced a issue in my in my previous car and I never used water in her. Over time the pump does fail and manufactures recommend changing it at given intervals. 4. The thermo on your car seems to be OK, So was mine as I had replaced it about a year back and it was from the agents hence did not doubt that. In my case the temperature indicator dropped down as soon as the traffic cleared and I was driving - which may indicate that the moving somewhat controlled the heat level. The thermo also can be check and ideally should be replaced periodically . You will find enough info on the net on how to check if it's working. Anyway maybe other members too could shed some light - If there is no record from the previous owner, best would be to do a complete check up . Always use coolant and not water as it helps prolong the life of the radiator as well. -
Premio 240 2003 car radiator flush and add coolant instead of water
mazdaspeed replied to Husny's topic in TOYOTA
Guys, Since there is rust, would it not be advisable to do a complete radiator clean up as well. I mean removing it and going through the the inside channels with a steel strip to breakup any rust particles stuck. At the same time do a check up on the water pump as the blades could be decaying . The Nissan had a issue with the temp showing normal, however AC kept paying up and occasionally temp hits the high value. Was advised to clean the radiator and remove the Thermostat value and later found out that the water pump had no fins in it as it has corroded and stuck in the radiator. As it's an 2002 model might as well get the whole system checked at once , which will save you time and money + not have a case of getting stranded with a busted radiator -
Lash has basically summed it up. Try to go for a Bj5 models as it's 1500CC and there are 1600CC as well. Pay good attention to the gearbox service and look for a car which has been maintained well else as advised keep a budget to get it done. Parts may be an issue out of Colombo and are somewhat expensive when compared to Toyota and Nissan. A DOCH engine wold be best as there are some Single Cam one on fuel. If you can get hold of a VVTi, that will be great. Overall a great fun car to drive with good comfort and road handling.+ The looks are not bad either . Good luck with your search.

@Komisiripala ? Wow shes' fabulous - simply lost for words machan. Congrats on a superb build up . And Congrats of becoming a farther and completing the house - Completing her would have been a challenge with the house project also on the same time

Spot On Komisiripala, Had the same issue with a Mazda TipTronic Box and had to replace the parts - washers, hub and a few more bits. Take her to a place who know what they are doing and familiar with the issue.

A very interesting topic - Sadly most agents do not let the customer go in to the service area which I believe is something that's not in line. You can always get a CX to sign a disclaimer on accidents if needed . I too had a very bad experience with Hyundai Lanka and another member "Gummybr" was kind enough to pitch in and attend to my divergences but sadly the call I received from TOP brass person was not at all comforting and the response I got was not what I would have expected. In any instance, one has to take an appointment with an agent for a service, hence I feel they need to take adequate time to do a proper job and not say that they have a high volume of vehicles to attend to hence they only do the basic checks such as oil, bushes etc.... "When you ask if they do a wax and you say you don't mind paying for it , but service agent says they do it . When you get the vehicle you know that they have not applied any-sort of wax (Not event then cheapest stuff ) is a big let down; among others issues. As LashNeo said doing it yourself it the best and was my practice too but sadly over the years, I've got older, kids and family have now come in the way in terms if time and hence resorting to so called service center --- I do occasionally do the washing bit myself though. Best is to find a decent place and get to know the boys who do it and guide them - It worked out well for me with one of them who is my regular place and they do a decent job.

Say no to wiper blades, windscreen nano coating
mazdaspeed replied to Lahiru Sachintha's topic in General Automotive
Agree with the fellow member too I'm sure there is a reason the manufactures have wiper blades - even premium brands such as Bentley, AMG have them on for a reason. Who ever came up with this story of 2 year warranty and stuff - well he/she i good at selling a fridge to an Eskimo . The coating will help but not replace. What will they come up next ?????? -
If Nugegoda /Maharagama is not too far off for you, there is a good place. Sadly I don't have his number on me now whilst trying this. When you proceed down load road maharagama passing mirihanan police, udahamulla junc, you will come to Orange IT and a Rail gate crossing just before you find the boo tree - Navinna. without crossing the rail gate take a left to the station and there is a great chap whos work is good.

First- have you identified where the leak is ? is it at the top of the core or at the bottom ? Second – If your exiting radiator is made of copper, then would it not be possible to simply seal it as it’s much easier ?If not done already, try taking it to a radiator repair shop – If you are in Nugegoda , there is a good place . There is no guarantee with recon stuff but I recently had a leak and it was the top plastic part on the top so they replaced it with a new one and it’s been ok thereof. However if the middle part is damaged, then there would be issues.
