27 year old japan car Vs 8 year old indian car?
tiv replied to CaptainJ's question in Car Buying Information
Boy this conversation might have confused you to hell, let me share my bit if your your budget was towards the 18 mark an Indian will be a safer option because you can land a newer model, but at 13.5 you can get a much better jap, rather than the Indian ones at the price also cars from this era may not be as economical in terms of fuel but spares are cheap, and cars from this era have ample parts, cheap parts in many makes, simple services and you can run 92 oct, saving a bit more, and you are extremely LESS likely to lose money via depreciation through a jap car in this era, and mileage won’t also be a big deal as all are high, whereas Indian cars of your budget range when old fall apart, loose money and mileage concerns pop up, interiors are shabby and lack more, even road presence is less. Get a jap, You ll fall in love with it and develop a passion no one looks down on a well maintained clean jap car, whereas even a brand new Indian car is no head turner in our local context, they maybe good but it’s just the mentality here. -
Looking at getting a petrol one so noise wont be a big deal I guess, let me look out for lutian ones

Chassis Number and Country of Origin not tallying
tiv replied to agent47's question in Car Buying Information
Dude RMV ; DMT has heaps of mistakes in books / CRs I have seen 7 Seater Volkswagen beatle Land Rovers with country of Origin as Japan Mini Coopers from Japan ( Book Print ) Diesel Vehicles marked petrol Land Cruisers marked Land rover Kias marked as Country of origin; china Don't get me started on engine CC, gosh misprint chassis nos, inclusions, omissions Yea everything can be amended, they have a procedure -
As long as the aren’t the hybrid ones, you’d be fine, agents have almost all parts but don’t expect them to run on a budget. expect running repairs as they will have a certain mileage above 50000km Parts Oem are costly and they are not fuel Efficient, pretty much the same with all SUVs though Also consider the ASX and a low mileage vezel if you can as they fall in the same range. If you are keen on a Mitsubishi, talk to the agents, you can get an idea and the issues they have and the fuel/ running costs

Off road 4x4 spec buffers or any front attachments are not legal https://www.police.lk/index.php/traffic-police/55 besides the gazettes and old laws, the new dmt-traffic police teams work in their own agenda, tearing down and fining whatever they find a fiberglass off-road bumper would render it useless and difficult to manufacture will serve only one purpose; ie the look and giving a better approach angle you will loose winch mounting and winching capability, jack points, light mounting, and the brute strength, and a bit of rock sliding etc.

There is a place in kandy, a famous service station If I recall Unit#d Mot#rs also had one, along with formula world in the late 2000s
-
You are likely to lose a lot of money in doing a petrol conversion in this country, if that is no concern, it would be a fun project again it would be the v6 offered in the tundra or 4runner 1gr 2gr engines etc

My point being its going to be hard to find the housing only, these models being a few years old and are rare as complete cars, also it's very unlikely that someone would store a GB housing but would try to launder you a complete gearbox.
-
This can be fixed in a good lathe mate but you will have to take the housing bit off, looks like you have lost one of the anchoring bolts as well, do not run it till it’s sorted, if you could get a picture from another car, they’ll be able to sort that bit, brass welds might hold., we usually brazing welds to patch damaged sumps.
-
Very abundant, even if u can’t find something outside, the agent will carry every nut and bolt.

Get the calibration done properly as I have a stupid colleague who lost a tyre, cracked diamond cut alloy and dented a wheel arch and C pillar after the 360 system missing an entire lamp post on a sedan by cutting too close in a narrow driveway.
-
A pic of the cap and the rim may help
-
If its not a rare wheel, center caps can be bought cheap in some alloy wheel joints or online, which is far easier If they are Chinese / Taiwan rims there is a tendency to crack or start to peel off the chrome or lacquer finish once you drill it Yes it will have a near negligible effect on the on the balancing.

If it is really factory and attached with clips or bolts, there maybe holes in the valances and whatnot it is attached to, that maybe a cumbersome idea as you will have to do metalwork to close all the holes and paint it up, most cladding applied locally is with tape, and local kits with rivets, but lately now even local installations go to the extent of drilling holes with a template, so do an inspection prior to attempting anything.
-
I do not think this is true, until an issue in the hybrid system comes which is around 150,000km Running repairs and maintenance is common to all Then again the price gap is almost 5-7lakhs
-
Genuine convertibles are rare and a handful, well known in the classic car community, its going to be costly and a wait. You doing the conversion is not going to add any value to the car, intact it may drop.

The 5 year thing is a myth, mainly coined up because due to the climate here, the hybrid battery packs up in like 5 years, They are mild hybrids, there is no requirement for an emissions test, more or less an assist, no engine less propulsion The latest model is badged hybrid but that also is a mild form, however the isg can propel it for a brief time.

Check if it was run with the correct oil 0w-20 5w-30 also cvt oil Look for badly repaired accidents Check if the belt adjuster has been replaced Look at the tyres if they are dunlop enasave as they have sidewall issues Brake pads will need change, the isg belt, Be very particular of the mileage as there is a lot of fraud and these have done heavy miles Expect the following if so Hub bearings, front suspension bushes Shock absorbers, hybrid battery Also join the wagon r Facebook page, they are very informative.

Well I never got to that review or the continuation of that thread I had just sold my hilux, and since reviews were so Much of a let down, Actually what happened was we bought a 3.2 Montero, which we still have, then another L200 which we still have in the distant family, Thereafter after a bit of orienting with the agents I managed to find a Montero sport which replaced the l200, The issue is mainly poor maintenance The pulling power is mostly due to using normal diesel and blocked egr, scv issues if those bits are rectified it really pulls, almost close to our 4m41 Montero Handling and body roll - upgraded shock absorbers and real bump stops, also tyres Seating position and equipment no obvious difference from a montero The factory Bridgestone tyres are hard ply. Upgraded brakes to Brembo pads Using all valvoline lubricants and timely changes of all So what happened was the Montero sport was supposed to be the daily runner , then we got the v97, later on we got the montero sport which actually is the one we use most being the most economical and peppy, and even to yala The v97 is pointlessly expensive to run and bits are also a bit costly when compared but no regrets. Again both equally uncomfortable in comparison to even a Kei car. And unbearable in traffic due to their size. To summarise about the KH4 Montero Sport, whatever critics and others may say This is my experience It's an old school off reader in a contemporary shell, extremely reliable and rather economical to run Comfortable or not in SUV s of this genre is debatable, i would never call them comfortable Then again I will never call them slow either You would notice vehicles with even >200,000km in good compression now despite me being told they cant The l200 we had with the same engine is at near 300,000km still in sufficient compression. There were days I did bear 400km a day The bottom line is reviews aren't always the end of the world, it takes one to find out

s cross Suzuki S Cross SX4 Boosterjet 1.0L 2019 UK
tiv replied to Ahan's topic in General Automotive
Its not that popular here, people have issues with the looks, which I kinda like, but seems like a good car, is it the same size as the CHR? do look into the interior room and cargo area in comparison to the others as it looks small. If it shares parts with the on going swift gen you won't have an issue though. I suggest more research and like you said its new here and not exactly an acclimatized model, may have lurking issues and with no agent support it maybe like the Xtrail issue of the past, so take your time.- 6 replies
