Been a bit busy, and not well to check up on this. I can tell you that the car in the picture is of a brand that I love a lot. From the world of weird and wonderful technology a very sedate notchback. 😄 Not a well known rally car like the Evo and the WRX, but more potent and a multiple rally championship winning machine (this particular model in coupe configuration), shocked the world when it almost won as a kit car.

Got to give the others a chance.

No and No....Avante got the continent right though...during WW2 the country that makes this car was on the opposite side of the country that builds Rolly Royce.

VW Type 3? It couldnt have been as expensive car given the small nut holding the tail lamp. That rear end looked very close to a Daihatsu Compagno or a Fiat.

I think you're correct it has to be a type 3
