This was called the Swift in Japan, but the Ignis in the Export market. It was built to compete in the JWRC before the 2nd gen Swift took over. Nothing special about a 1.5l engine with 115hp was it? but came with Recaro's and the awesome body kit. Sadly no Subaru Justy two door with sporting credentials were built based on this.

Yes...the 1.5L engine was not that special in anyway. The Sport had a power bump to about, as you said, 115ishhp from its usual 107?ishhp. The Sport also had harder suspension and it also was lowered by a cm or so. As a result the car was far more direct and actually fun to chuck in to corners. However, what made the huge difference was the close-ratio gearbox. That just livened up the measly engine and made the car quite quick.

Aptly named as it launched 75 years after the company was founded - they used a name of a city to market it in the usa probably cos the murricans were bad with numbers.
