Depends on the destined market I suppose.

Sure it does. I looked up the FRONX after your comment and realized it is also manufactured in India and exported to Japan. It does mention for the Japanese market it has some changes such as advance driver-assist, electronic parking brake, 4WD option etc. So I guess the interior material quality would also be more refined than the Indian version. Also saw that it is rebadged as Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor in India as well.

Seems rebadging is a very common thing and it's just that we haven't seen all these re-badged versions recently or is it that we, Sri Lankans prefer it better when imported as original from Japan?

The Baleno was a bit of a let down but they seem to have gotten their act together.

The Baleno actually looks great from outside but cannot comment on it's overall quality, performance and comfortability as I have no experience with the vehicle.

🫢I must be half-shot then for not seeing "Let" clue but "Star" revealed it all.

Ok let's keep this going...

You may come up with many answers to this.

Since no one has given an answer, any chance of a clue to keep it rolling

ok let me try my best...

in a cash emergency, for a quick loan, in the past we had "Albert uncle in London". Guess where our Albert uncle is now? Then you get the place of origin of this car.

It may look strong as a stone and may have the latest technology that could even show us where the Polar star is. 😉

Don't be confused that there is a similarly named car series by a company which is also named quite similar to our quiz car. This company is owned by a very famous Swedish automotive manufacturer.

That's the best and all I can give brothers.

Replacing pole 'stars' with 'stones', 01 of them to be exact, may give the answer hopefully?

Truth to be told I wasn't even aware of the existence of this company until a few minutes ago, but I think it's pretty cool that the vehicle was apparently designed by Pininfarina, or at least their branch in Shanghai, if I'm not mistaken.

Hmmm thats a bit of an interesting model. One of the fastest turn around times from concept to sales. Its been given to another company to manufacture maybe to reduce cost.

"Pinninfarina" has been designing Chinese models for sometime, but this is more or less a copy of a Defender / Santa Fe / Yangwang.

He he of course it does  I was so confused at first as this is known as Polestone 01, Polarstone 01 or even BAIC Jishi (I looked up translations to realize that in chinese language, Ji Shi means Polar Stone). That's why I said you may come up with many names.

only now I came to know that after your mentioning about it.

There is a company called Polestar, a Swedish Auto Manufacturer which is owned by Volvo, that designs a lineup of electric cars called polestar. These 2 are not the same.

Yes Yangwang which is owned by BYD very much related or visually same to this 2024 Electric SUV. So here's the full photo and I was lucky to have this taken by myself last May when I had a chance to visit China. Was walking in a mall in Shenzhen and here I sees this shiny beast. Only one thing to do. Take a Photo 😁

I guess it's @Duan27's chance now.

I think you have perfectly taken that photo with the red toy brand logo top middle. 😁

Product placement?

😄 only later I also realized the Logo was perfectly centered.

What did you mean by Product placement?

They placed the car right there in front of the Lego logo, maybe got Lego thinking of making a Lego out of it.

Yeah why not? Could be a good selling if they do launch one. Even the name is a unique one neh.

I mean it’s about as boxy as a vehicle could get, so I don’t think Lego would have a hard time getting the design down 😂 whether they’d want to though is a different matter

Here’s the next one! Ideally would like to know the exact edition/ trim, cuz that’s what makes this interestingIMG_4601.jpeg.fcd447240ee0e7a9c989074c2e10d238.jpeg

OT; I think if it were to ever land in our shores we will have a lot of fun with the name after it is translated to Sinhalese, I know of one individual who will have a field day with the name.

Of course, we are good at giving local names to cars like Palathsabha, Computer Body, Allions with Flower Tail Lights (mal light), singha muna Vanette etc 😛 It could be interesting to guess what heavenly name they'd come up with to this?

I remembered we had one here, yes so this is the Toyota Auris NRE185H, the local car was sold as an anniversary model. Those stickers and all looks very aftermarket, I dont think its original.

You're right about the model, it is an Auris indeed! As for the stickers however, they are all from factory if I'm not mistaken. This is a special edition collab between Toyota and another Japanese company (akin to the Redbull x Mini collab).

That's what I was referring to here as the edition

(Clue - it's related to something very popular in Japanese pop culture)

Yes but also know. What you have posted is the "complete" car. So The whole Modelista x GUNDAM collaboration led to the existence of "Char(?)'s Auris II Complete" car which had all these crazy stickers. Thankfully not many were crazy enough to actually go get that.

 image.png.59218aceef128b35052fe434ce9fdd05.png

What was more commonly sold out of the collaboration was the "Char's Exclusive Customizable" car, which meant you can pick and choose what stickers you wanted except for the stickers from the complete car.

image.png.1cdfb8ac9c87cd0e20c11490ab37d8f1.png

This was just one of Toyota's desperate attempt to popularize the Auris. They even had what was called the Brick lane design package...

image.png.39d229dc37d898510b3439277476f10d.png

The reality was that the Auris simply was not popular in Japan. It was not worth the money for what it was. It cost as much as a proper sedan or touring wagon. Most felt it was very grandpa like and the E180 was even described as cheap looking for what one had to pay (mind you this coming from people who were actually looking to buy an 140 or E160Axio !!! at least the Axio was cheap). A decent spec Auris was 2.5mil upwards...which at the time was Premio,Allion and a little bit less than Mark X money. The launch of the Aqua did not help the Auris either as the Auris although marketed as a Premium hatch did not feel that drastically more premium than a high-end Aqua (which was touted to be more eco friendly and came with a lot of tax incentives).

They were even more critical with the E180 as it got larger and it didn't feel any premium at all which the previous generation Auris was (let's not forget the previous gen was the base for the Blade which even had a V6 variant). The Corolla hatch lost its popularity after the Allex/RunX duo until the current generation hatch was launched.

Must admit...driving the Auris is...uhh..different...

That's right, it's a Zeonic Toyota x Char (from Gundam) Auris! (And the complete edition at it). I didn't know about the existence of the tamer looking version, which actually looks cleaner. Saw this complete edition up for sale on a website and it piqued my interest. Apparently only 300 were made.

I'd been wondering why there are rarely any up for sale, even the standard Auris, but looks like we've gotten a very comprehensive explanation too.image.thumb.png.8d32aa55940d8edae41c18e02ccbc929.png

So ig it's @iRage's turn next? Over to you

Any clues needed ? I wouldn't think so....but lets say this is a model that is quite popular in SL. The earlier generations are much loved and idolized to a point where one would think the god's themselves use these. Interestingly, these do not seem to have the stigma of being owned by "wan*ers" like its competition does (even though in some cultures the name itself would suggest it being one). Nevertheless, the model's recent demise has been quite heartbreaking...but probably for the best, as the model suffered dearly due to the manufacturer's downfall.

So it's a SUV then...I wanted to ask for a clue whether this is a Hatch or Sedan. Still can't understand the link between the answer and "wan*er" word.

Yes it is ! Over to you...

This white one in SL has an illustrious racing history in SL and is owned by a racing family.

Yupp..it is a SUV. Shortwheel base version of the popular long wheel base Pajero.

In Spanish Pajero means the "w" word. Which is why in some markets the car is badged as Montero. The name Pajero was apparently used in reference to a wild cat (mimic one's behaviour ?). The name Montero was apparently used in reference to the Spanish word for Mountain (probably to imply it can climb them ?)
