Hi

I'm looking to buy a diesel jeep since the car i'm currently using is a bit too low for me and I'm finding it hard to get in and out. It's like getting in and out of a pothole.

So I figured going for a jeep which fits in the price of my current car price. I'm selling my Pulsar and hope to get around 1.5mil so that I could go for a ssangyong musso. What I want to know is if the musso is a good vehicle? meaning if it is good in fuel economy and resale value (i understand its low but I see that the ssangyong's in Sri Lanka are increasing). And I would appreciate if anyone could tell me the price range of this vehicle and if spares are of abundunce and low priced?

If the musso isn't that great; I'd like it if anyone could suggest a jeep that fits or is somewhat closer price range please.

Thank You

I think that you are finding a diesel jeep.how about

1.Mitsubishi RVR or Chariot

2.Kia sportage

these are more close to your budget

.sorry I have very poor knowledge about sangyong

Errm do you really want to say that you own a MUSSO at a tea party or a night out with the guys?

SO the answer to your question because of the silly name and whole load of other maintenance issues is : NO!

or another option would be to buy a car which has higher ground clearance, such as Corolla 110 or Corona 210

These 2 are way better vehicles than the Musso and specially the Mitsubishi will be easier to maintain compared to the koreans.

The Musso will be the worst choice.

just a suggestion, not the best thing for the car but. why not fit bigger wheels?. it will reduce the power and fuel economy and will throw off the speedo reading a bit

my old fb14 (which is basically the same car) had the same issue. it was fixed after i put bigger wheels on it.

I donno what's worse...saying you own a "sssssang yong" or a "musso." Along with inferior build quality and a generally bone jarring ride (during which it seems bits of the vehicle might fall off) I would say it offers the worst bang for your particular buck.

sounds like a space issue rather than a ground clearance issue. he says he finds it difficult to get in and out. if you can get a diesel converted old sportage or a santafe, u might solve many of your problems. however, at that budget, u will never be able to get a vehicle to solve all your problems.

Thanks to all the sensible replies.
@DNP - I'll definitely check that out. btw, do you know the price ranges please?
@Magnum - I really like those cars but my budjet at the moment is really stiff. will check on it anyways.
@Clark's Son - I too like the sound of a mitsubishi, so ill try it out.
@Schiffer - that might work but I am definitely selling the vehicle. I believe I should have asked the question before advertising eh?!

@SeanD - Thats a BIG no ha?! hmmm...i guess everybody who commented says its useless. I would like to know; have you owned a musso before? (please don't take it the wrong way, i just want to know if you were personally affected by it)

@Crosswind - Exactly what I was thinking. Its more of a space issue. How much does a sportage or santafe go? I mean the diesel converted old ones?

Thanks again.

I've heard stories of weak front suspension in the SSangyong version of the Mussos. In fact, I'm sure you've seen a few on the road with hideously sagging front suspension. The front uprights aren't that strong either. Dunno if they were improved when Daewoo took things over. IMO, if you want a SSangyong, aim for a Rexton.
