I got an offer to purchase 3M DIY pack for above price. Offer is valid only today and day after only.

Following are the products in there.

1. 3M Car Wash Soap
2. 3M Quick Wax
3. 3M Tyre Restorer
4. 3M Glass Cleaner
5. 3M Leather & Vinyl Restorer
6. 3M Microfiber Detail Cloth

Regular price is about 9,600. rupees.

Have you all tried this pack.... pls comment if worth it.

By looking at the products it seems worth the deal.

If you have a serious brand-loyalty towards 3M, this is a fantastic deal...

There are plenty of non-3M alternatives for most (if not all) of these products and collectively, they will cost far less than 6600!

For a little while I thought the marketing guerrillas had returned. But the threads are by different people and the tone doesn't suggest any attempts at selling things.

3M is a big brand but when it comes to automotive care there are many options to chose from. I think Turtle is a rather underrated brand which has been around for donkeys years and then there is auto glym, meguiars etc etc.

I honestly don't feel that you need to look for a big-brand for most of the items in that list. I would just go with a supermarket brand car wash soap, tyre shine and glass cleaner, which should total to about 600-700 bucks.

There are much cheaper alternatives (local and imported) including a locally produced tyre restorer (Made in Panadura) which is "very good". The only thing is the micro fibre cloth for which I do not think there is a cheaper alternative.

Rs.6600 is way too much and of it I beleive about Rs.3000 would be just for the 3M brand!

3M Products are expensive. They have few hundred products. Always expensive than other manufactures.

3M in USA MINNESOTA named the company first as Minnesota Mining Company after the second world war, they went in for manufacturing company.

Thereafter they became 3M. More than 100 years ago they started mining. Now one of the biggest trading companies in USA branches, out side USA.

Therefore their products are with very high quality including the medical research and development laboratory they have.

I lived close to 3m headquarters.My laboratory where I did work used to have good contacts with 3M laboratory because the polymer resins we handled.

Bumping this thread for a quick question. I have been using 3M Quick Wax to wax my car and had decent results with it. Now I have run out and need to buy another bottle of wax. This was available in Keels Supermarkets but this particular 3M product does not seem to be there for sale anymore (I've checked both in Kandy and Colombo). Do you guys know any place which sells this? It would be great if its a place in Kandy.

What are the other good brands available in SL similar to 3M quick wax? Thanks in advance.

Check Laughs supermarkets or in their service places. Got a leather & vinyl restorer from them. Im sure wax should be there too.

Food city at jawatte road has an armourall stand which pretty much has all that for less.

Thanks for the info mate. I recently got an Armourall all purpose cleaner and it seemed to be really good. Ill check it out.

Damn do they have Turtle Wax in SL? I thought the only option was to get it down from Ebay (and they charge insane shipping costs for products like wax). Thanks I will check in Kandy Food City.

Just to update on 3M - I called Laughs Lubricants shop in Kandy and they claimed they are no longer carrying any 3M products.

EDIT: Found 3M Wax in a Cargills. They had TurtleWax there as well. If anyone is curious, 3M Quick Wax was Rs.1980 and Turtle wax as I remember was Rs.1680.
