In Japan the Rush doesn't sell that much because it is as almost as expensive as a low grade RAV4. The only advantage there is the slightly lower taxes. Then the competing Hybrid small SUV/Crossovers from Honda and Mazda it the market and I think it is selling even less now. <Toyota is apparently working on a similar sized Crossover that is Hybrid>

Looking around it seems like the situation is the same in Sri Lanka....

Have you looked at the Terios ? It is the same car....might be a bit cheaper since you won't be paying for the Toyota badge. Also, most of the Terios came as brand new I beleive so you might be able to find one with a full service history.

I have looked some terios 2008 models. The price range is around 3.3 .
I think its better to give slightly more for Toyota because of its resale value.

What about the current market price of rush 2008 4WD model.

It was around 3.4 last year. Now the owners are asking more

What if you buy a terios for 3.3 M and sell it for 3 M in a few years time? Or you buy a Rush for 3.7 M and sell it for 3.5 M.

The problem here is not how much you're gonna lose when you resell it. The problem is how many buyers would be ready to buy it from you. I think in that case Terios has a better shot. It is much more popular than Rush in Sri Lanka IMO. Actually Toyota owns Daihatsu. So they are basically the same.

Rush is JDM right? It has CVT gear box and other JDM bells and whistles. May be bit fuel efficient and comfortable than Terios. Terios in the other hand is made more suitable for SL driving conditions and could be more easy to maintain. Found below comparison but this may be biased towards Terios as it is published by Daihatsu SL.

Hello Autogeek

Rush/ terios/ Bego all the same and based on Daihatsu Terios platform, same engine same drive line and same interior (different trim levels), they call fitted with 1.3 or 1.5 engine, 4WD model is under powered and not good on gas, 2WD model is slightly economical but still not enough grunt.

Very easy to drive around the town as a city car, but not that good for long trips you will feel all the bumps on the road and lots of complains for handling due to high center of gravity, skinny tires, and narrow body you will flipped very easily.

Air con is small and struggle to maintain the temp

Build quality is low, lots of cheap plastics and less insulation for wind noise (Any of the trim level and Jap import/ New imports)

4WD/ 2WD fitted with 4 speed auto or 5 speed manual box, not seen the CVT box yet (not in 2015 model)

I don't think you get a good after sale value for this model

Give a try with a Vitara / Escudo if you can afford or a RAV4

regards

The Vitara is one of the very few vehicles with a proper RWD 4x4 system in its class. At the time atleast..the new version of the Vitara too has gone in the smaller crossover with the not-much-of-control-AWD-system.

Compared to its competition I found the Vitara to be a bit unrefined. Haven't driven an AT but the manuals that I have driven the gear changing was reminiscent of a tractor and was very clunky and mechanical. Ride was a bit bumpy and again unrefined compared to the likes of the X-Trail, RAV4, CR-V. I found the handling of the Vitara quite interesting. There was less body roll than the competition and going in to corners you don't get the understeering feel you would in a RAV4, CR-V, X-Trail (duh...obviously it is RWD). Also, the smaller and lessened height compared to a RWD Prado, Pajero, etc...you also don't get the feeling that you are going to oversteer and flip over. So it kind of builds confidence...however...the hard suspension makes it feel like you might bounce off the corner if you hit any bumps or anything of the sort. The 4WD system on the Vitara, I have liked more than the others...it is (or used to be) a proper 4x4 system.

overall it is a decent car...and reasonable value for money.

Apart from a few niggles that are easily avoidable with proper maintenance I have not heard many serious issues with it (the previous one had a few recalls relating to starter motors, and electrical windows and diff stuff but not sure about the one you are looking at).

Is there a big difference between Toyota Rush 2007 vs 2008 model?

What will be a reasonable price for Rush 2007-2008 that have done less than 50K mileage in today's' used car market?
