"oiliness"?????? if your glass is factory Original then i am not sure about this oiliness but i have seen faulty replacement glasses which is not made to OEM standard, so give a try with a good glass cleaner. i use the wynn's glass cleaner and it's doing a proper job. So give a try

regards

JC

Hi all,

Just wanna know a way to get rid of the oiliness on the windscreen. Any chemical to use or any place where I could get it done?

Thanks in advance.

There are windscreen cleaners (come in small bottles) which are available in most of the supermarkets ( In car stuff section you know, where everytime I go to buy something else I end up there) :sad-smiley-067:

If you can get some around the house, nail polish remover works very well to clean any kind of oily muck on glass surfaces.

But be really careful not to touch any plastic material (like the air intake cover right on the bottom on the windscreen) with nail polish remover, cause it sort of burns the plastic surfaces, leaving white marks.

If you get rainbow-like reflections on the windscreen even when its dry, then it may be because the windscreen itself is not good (the plastic layer which holds the safety glass together is kaput). No nail polish can help you with that.

Well, I'm a bit allergic to windshield cleaners for I had a couple of bad experiences with them sometime back. They left markings on the cowl panel when exposed to the sun. AFAIK this happens only with ammonia based cleaners. Better to avoid them.

I usually wipe the windshield and wiper blades (and of course all the windows) clean with a micro-fiber cloth soaked in a mild solution of car wash everyday and the windshield is always free of oiliness from exhaust fumes.
