Dear All,

I am a new buyer.......... :speechless-smiley-004: :speechless-smiley-004: :speechless-smiley-004:

What is the recommedded TOYOTA japanese second hand sedan car for 3 Mn with new tax?

or

Better to go for vehicle such as Suzuki Celerio, Renault Kwid , Kia Picanto hatchback, rather than buying second hand vehicle??

Please advise me on this regrads. :sport-smiley-003: :sport-smiley-003:

Thanks in Advance

Prices are a bit inflated now...

so Toyota Yaris YOM 2007 would cost you about 3.1/3.2

It seems like you are not quite sure on what your requirement is. You say you want a Toyota Sedan and yet you are ready to go for a flimsy Indian hatch as well. :speechless-smiley-019:

It's like asking "What is the best bar of chocolate I can buy for 50 rupees? ...Or should I buy an apple ?" :speechless-smiley-004::speechless-smiley-004:

What exactly is your requirement?

It's better to go for a well maintained second hand Toyota IMO. The prices are a bit unstable now but I think you'd find

Yaris

Belta

Corolla 121

Vios (2008-)

Corolla 141 (if you can extend a bit more than 3M)

If I'm not wrong both Celario and Renault Kwid are made in India. So it's better to choose a Japanese over them. But there are good reviews on Kia Picanto.

isn't the belta a little overpriced and therefore out of his range. I noticed about a 0.3 Mill diff in prices between yaris and belta of similar vintage.

BTW just thought of sharing these two vids i came across - NCAP crash test videos for Renault Kwid and Celerio. (which both actually received zero stars )

True machan. Belta is a bit overpriced comparing with yaris.

I recently saw the NAP crash test video in which almost all of these Indian made cars failed. That was one reason I said it's better to stay away from Indian made hatchbacks.

How much is the Kwid thing anyway? If its priced below 3 mill, it might actually end up being a good seller, as its got the wannabe-SUV look.

And there's nothing more Sri Lankans like than pretending to be driving something on the lines of a SUV...

But out of pure curiosity i googled and came across an ad in the 'quick' site. Seems like someones bringing them down from india ??

to quote that ad: "LKR – 1.992 million (Basic Model) – LKR – 2.130 million – LKR – 2.160 million (Full Option)"

No word on pricing from A*W

Seems like those prices are legit. Same can be seen in a FB page called 'Renault KWID Sri Lanka' as well.

Avoid Kwid. There's lot of gaga on this as an entry level hatch/SUVish that has some looks but pretty damn cheap inside (material wise). Engine is very noisy and has no grunt with AC on.

With current market prices you can go for a Yaris 2006/7 manual transmission or even an auto if you bargain hard. Picanto is also worth considering.

It is a bit weird those who question the safety NCAp rating of a new Indian model try to promote Lankan made start-up models which are not even subjected to these tests. Safety seems to become more and more of a luxury to us now..

There were two cars i saw that had some publicity on various FB groups. One was that green golf-cart looking thing that is a Hybrid (or an EV) and the other kind of looked like a three-wheeler extended to look like an Innova. They were kind of slinging mud at the Indian cars in any and every way they could.

Oh the supercar made by some IT guys? I thought that was a myth

Slinging mud at Indians one of is Sri Lanka's favourite pastime anyway :)

came across a thread while trolling around E..K..i.com on the kwid. Folk who had pre ordered were justifying their purchase saying it was better than Maruti and that they had no time to spend in garages if they bought a 15 yo Jap car for that price. After seeing some peoples reasoning I have been having a bout of diarrhea.

Safety seems to become more and more of a luxury to us now..

Hundreds of people travel on train footboards , buses pick up passengers ON pedestrian crossings, no safety procedures are followed in construction sites... safety was never a concern for our people. Whenever safety of vehicles is discussed the common reply is ' oya safe kiana car walath minissu marenawa' and 'marenna tianawa nam marenawa'

True story :sad-smiley-066:
