Engine misfire of FB 14

Liyo

Question

Hello friends

I have observed a engine misfire when the engine is on idle. All plugs were checked and conformed good. What I heard was this has a relationship with the coil pack. how could I find a good technician in Kegall / Mawanella area and how much cost for a coil pack ..

thank you

GA15DE?Are there coil packs in this engine?

According to my memory, it has a distributor with a single coil inside the distributor housing.

@Liyo, Welcome to the forum! It can be due to the coil, but there are other possibilities as well. Can this be experienced always or just when the engine is warm? When the issue comes up, you can get a mechanic to check if each plug gets a spark from the distributor.

This is nota space shuttle and therefore you dont need a rocket-scientist.

Q:   When wasthe last time you washed the engine? your prob would've started soon after.

Get a suitably qualified guy to check the plugs and plug wires.water can go down the plug wsires to short circuitthe HT SYSTEM AND IF YOUR CAR IS FUEL INJECTED, SAME STORY.

Start with replacing the wires and plugs, you'll get better efficiency, mwhile your at it, replace the cob web coverd air filter which was last replaced during the reign of Pres D B Wijethunga!:D

your car does not have coil packs.!:angry-smiley-044:

No more engine washes for this engine!

P.s, Dont tyhink you can find any one who wnowsa where the engine is, let alone the cause of a miss fire.that far away.

I diagnosed an engine miss to an injector on a JDM EFI FB14 once,..replaced it,.. and that was it.:D

TT s post is a total BS, he suggests you to "starts with replacing plugs and wires".

of course you should find a good technician, but the same time you should prepare your self otherwise they will start to replace everything in the ignition path and the fuel path.

if you suspect this is due to a problem in the ignition electrical path, you should feel this misfire very sharply when there is quick power demand (quick full throttle at low speed, you may feel the jerk sharply). if you can feel the misfire only when the car is idle, it is worth to do a compression test.

Injectors are the most common misdiagnosis .

if your car throws error codes for misfire (P0301,......), that's where we can start to play (compression leak or injector related problem it throws the same cylinder number even though we interchange plugs and wires).

some technicians will start with replacing fuel filter (people like TT), then better to find a another technician.
