Aqua with no smart key

Thilina Waduge

Question

Dear friends, I'm planning to buy AQUA which is not having smart key function. I found a guy who replace the normal key with smart key push start. But not the door locks since there are sensors on them. This is 2015 model & S grade & no multifunction as well. Comparedly the price is bit lower than than market price with key less entry & push start. If I install push start & multifunction will it be a problem when I I sell the car back. Someone  said it will be a problem since those are not appear in the auction sheet and buyer will bargain a lot. Please advise me ...

Why ???

The smart key is not that smart as most might make it out to be...it is a pain. You leave the key next to your remotes, mobile phones, house remotes, wifi router, list goes on.... the battery dies. You park the car anywhere close to a transformer or lot of power lines the damn thing doesn't work. Absolute pain I tell you....

The greatest convenience of the smart key (for me at least) is the ability to unlock the doors when your hands are full of groceries and have one kid clinging on one arm and another on your back and you can't reach to get your keys from the pocket. Seems like the only benefit that makes sense is lost in your case.

True..the factory fitted smart key has the security system with an immobilizer etc....but are you sure this company will do a installation that covers that too ?

Just keep your money....go out for a nice treat out with your family.

Multi-function steering..well..that is up to you....do you want it just to say you have it do you need it to make your driving easier and safely ?

1. If you really need this feature for your use, buy a car with that feature (or install aftermarket). Most of our car buyers spend money for options thinking selling it higher price but never use them in entire car life. ex: seat heaters, head light washers, fog lamps, even rear wiper, cruise control, etc. Even some people keep original comfortable woven carpets at home for next buyer and using cheap rubber carpets.

Otherwise save your money. Market is always fluctuating so there may more other factors than this when you sell it.

2. Buy less and sell less. No harm to you.

3. Fixing aftermarket kit (or used one) will not be a problem when you sell it since, no point of asking auction sheet for few years used car in SL.

Thanks bro. I'm not sure about the immobilizer installation. But friend I'm don't have idea will that car worth enough for the price. As I said it's 2015 , s grade, silver & done around 8650 km. It's un registered & Price is Rs.45 lks. Can bargain to 44 lks. Will this worth for money ????Is it that hard to sell back with out smart key function in sri Lanka ..

If the smart key function is not there. I guess it's not S grade.. It can be L grade. But i personally think It's not a good idea to change it's standard settings.I personally prefer key start than push start..As IRage said smart keys are not smart as most of them think it to be. Even though multi-function is considered to be a fantastic feature Sri Lankan context , It;s more of a display feature than a useful one.

According to the following catalog (page 42 and 49) the smart entry key is not available in L but a manufacturer option in S,G and the X-URBAN. It apparently came as a standard accessory only in the G Soft leather Selection. (but i am sure dealers would have bundled it up and sold Aquas with smart key just to get the cars moving off the lot). So I guess there could bo some out there who got the S, G and X-URBAN without the smart key

Aqua 2014 Update Catalog

As for the car the OP is wanting to buy...sorry I have no idea about the car values in SL...kills too many brain cells to keep track and car prices in SL are based on the most ridiculous of things...

Like the others have said...don't get random people to fix various options. If you want them try to buy a car with it. All you need is some moron to insulate some wire connection inproperly and you have a rolling bonfire.

Don't blindy buy a car either....get it properly checked out by a proper entity like CarChk or the agents or if there are any good hybrid specialists even them...

If you are fitting extras to sell then why not fit it just before you sell it.

Personally i didn't enjoy both of those options, had trouble with a not so Smart key in a Premio and i hate when accidentally the malfunction steering gets pressed and the radio turns into usb with a large volume difference while turning the wheel.

i tend to disagree.

Multi function is a great convenience, specially when some one is answering calls etc to mute reduce volume and tune the radio without loosing attention of the road. I think pro's out weigh any con's listed above.

The most important feature of the smart key is that you will never be locked out of car with the key inside which i used to do a lot with my previous mazda Familia.

of course fitting options which were not original is a different thing. My personal opinion is to leave vehicle as it is. If you need those options go for one with them paying a small premium.

For me even fitting those small chrome accessories is also a no.

ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE ! I am so confident of this that if I was a gambling man I would bet you for car titles.

I have been locked out of my car WITH THE KEY IN (wife went through the ordeal with the key locked in with a 8 month old baby !!!) several times. If you search and read some of my previous comments on the topic I have explained what and how it happened and I believe a few other members have shared their experiences as well.

It happened in cases of the door being half closed and then doing the butt bump to close it...to the battery being weak to the phne being inside with an iPad to....list goes on...

I have had lock outs in Toyotas and my friends in Nissans and Suzukis....

So...you better change your perception and take care !

Better have an inspection report from agents or qualified technician. Most of low price Aqua's are badly accident repaierd.

There enough n more stories where the JAAI certifications differ from the actual car (mileage differs from actual car, there was a thread in AL on it)...and I have seen images of cars been accident and flood related mishaps published on social media.

IF you think its NOT worth it don't bother...

BUT after paying 3mil and above for your car and finding out the hard way that its a repaired car, would you pay 4000LKR or maybe a bit more in TL and have it checked OR do u wanna pay 3mil and find out.

Seriously you should consider your self without asking that question here

Sales person agreed to show the auction sheet and OK for an inspection @ Toyota Lanka. Is this worth??

You cannot rely on auction sheets , JAAI certificates etc these days as these documents can be made in Sri Lanka as well. Better to do an inspection from a good place. One of my friends recently bought an Aqua 2013 G grade from a very famous vehicle seller in Kurunegala and got all those documents. He went to Toyota Lanka Kurunegala to have an inspection done. The mileage on Auction sheet was around 12k Kms and actual also bit more than that as seller had driven the vehicle from Hambantota to Kurunegala which was reasonable. When the guy from TL check the gear oil, he suggested to change the gear oil  immediately  ..If the the car has genuine mileage how come the gear oil change is already due? So better not consider those fake documents.. As you have mentioned the price quoted is very good offer for a 2015 Aqua considering the prevailing market price. You buy it cheaper and sell it cheaper later on,
