JOSEPH
Hi. I have a Toyota fielder 2006. It has a manual transmission. It has poor acceleration especially on gear 4 and 5 even at low climbings. What could be the issue?

0 Davy
Each gear has a balance between acceleration and top speed. While lower gears are biased towards acceleration, as you progress through the gears, they become biased towards top speed. So you can't expect 2nd gear like acceleration from higher gears. Not using the appropriate gear can be harmful for your engine as the transmission puts a lot of stress on it. At what speeds do you usually shift to 4th and 5th? Also, when you said that the car doesn't accelerate, does the RPM go up when you put your foot down, but the car doesn't move?
