Honda CRV 2021, Thailand assemble, Australian Variant. ( Brand new) VS Honda CRV JDM 2018/2019, 7 seaters, 1500 cc ( Recondition, made in Japan )

Recommended Posts

Dear Honda CRV users, Assalamualikum. I have an old question, but it is always universal:

Which variant is a better option

1. Honda CRV JDM 2018/2019, 7 seaters, 1500 cc ( Recondition, made in Japan )

2. Honda CRV 2021, Thailand assemble, Australian Variant. ( Brand new)

May be both the unit price will be close. Considering the following factors, you can put forward your valuable suggestions:

√ Worth of money
√ Reseal value
√ Reliability and durability
√ Overall performance

Thanks in advance

Given the choice I would always go for a brand new over reconditioned. Also Australian varient will have display in English which is really useful for all the maintainance minder reminders as well as the audio.

As far as I know 1.5L CRVs are all made in Thailand and exported to Sri Lanka, Japan, Australia.

They have different specifications and features according to the market however mechanically identical.

CRV Hybrid was assembled in Japan as far as i know.

Made in Japan story was made by importers to sell their vehicles to ignorant over the Brand New imported by the Agent.

Makes no difference in terms of build quality. Some models (used to be mainly Hybrids) were assembled in Japan (but there were plans to even move that off-shore..not sure if they have). Even the Japanese assembled ones, the components come from all over the planet...including Thailand.

The only difference would be the available options/accessories and things like interior materials, etc..used along with slight changes in configuration (to meet different regulations).

So your concern on selection should not be whether it is Thai, Japan or somewhere else made...it is whether you want to buy a brand new vehicle or a used vehicle and which configuration you want.

Most of Australian versions don't have radar cruise control like stuff. But they have English infotainment system with apple CarPlay & android auto. And JDM varient(not all) come with brown interior and fake wood trim. But Australian varient only available in black interior with fake aluminum trim.

Finally, you can decide according to your requirements and taste.
