Sri Lankans Making Names Abroad

Dillon,

If you're looking to bring a car to Sri Lanka there are some diamonds in the rough [i'm going to get slammed for this one] :action-smiley-060: that is better than the Supra. One being the Soarer with the 1JZ that is just as capable as the Supra but the price on them are much more reasonable. Supra prices are, in my opinion, inflated in a very soft market right now.

Another car that is great for Sri Lankan market is a Nissan Syilvia S14. Thoughtfully upgraded and properly tuned, a S14 can give a Supra a good run for it's money. Well modified S14 can be had from Japan for less than $10K us. On a local track, my S14 laps well over a second faster than my Supra with more than twice the power. Car is light and well balanced. Most importantly, parts for a S14, be it stock or performance, are fairly cheap and readily available.

I don't know if anybody else has noticed, but a guy by the name of Shane Seneviratne is quite a successful open-wheel team owner in the US. His team US RaceTronics is currently called 'Team Stargate Worlds' because of their current sponsor and in 2009 they also ran Franki Muniz (Malcolm, from Malcolm In The Middle) in Formula Atlantics this year.

I've been following his career for a while now and it looks like he'll make the step-up to IndyCars next year with Simona De Silvestro, a female racer who has actually had a lot of success in the junior formulae (unlike the lovely Danica Patrick).

Hopefully, it happens and eventually USRT can become a fully-fledged team in IndyCar. US open-wheel is on it's way back to relevance and is only second to Formula One in terms of perception.

Anyways, its cool to see another Sri Lankan guy making it in pro-motorsport.

Sri Lanka s Dilantha Malagamuwa is the first driver to win the first ever race of the GT4 held in Asia. This event was held over the week end in Malaysia. He was to drive a Nissan 350Z prepared by Nissan Works team Nismo who sponsors him for the event but as he failed to receive the car in time. Adrian de Silva, a Malaysian, racing in the same series invited him to drive his car with him.

Well, someone is guilty of plagiarism.

Props to the man! does keep the flag flying high :)

Absolutely. And now its Nismo too :D I absolutely have to plan a trip to Sepang for a race sometime. A buddy who went for F1 was very thrilled with the whole thing, but I think this'll be even better for me :D
