A Citroen 2CV is ranked higher than Ferrari F430 and a Pagani Zonda!!!!

and the Beattle outdoes the GTR....

this is whack!!!!!

whats this rating based on?

AFAIK Citroen 2CV was a breakthrough in that era with it's timeless light weight and yet simple design with an economical engine and front wheel drive. these are features listed in wiki, that's more than enough for a 1948 car ...

* four wheel independent suspension that inter-connected front to rear on the same side,

* leading arm front suspension,

* trailing arm rear suspension,

* rear fender skirts, but the suspension design allowed wheel change without removing the skirts,

* front-wheel drive,

* inboard front brakes, in order to help lower unsprung weight thus making ride even softer.

* small, lightweight, air-cooled flat twin engine, mounted very low in front of the front wheels for stability,

* 4-speed manual transmission,

* bolt-on detachable front and rear wings/fenders,

* detachable doors, bonnet (and bootlid after 1960) — by "slide out" P profile sheet metal hinges,

* front rear-hinged "suicide doors",

* flap-up windows, as roll up windows were considered too expensive in 1948,

* detachable full length fabric sunroof and boot lid, for almost pickup-truck-like load carrying versatility.

Manufactured for 42 years and more than 4 million or units have rolled out the factory, now that is definetly beating Ferrari F430 which was a high end car targeted a limited crowd. Citroen DS also deserves the position coz of the decades ahead technology used in that despite it's introduction was in 1950s(?)

The DS is truly an amazing machine!

just about everything was rather revolutionary when it came to that car - the gearbox , suspension , interior , exterior all of it - well ahead of its time!

what i'm rather sad about it that despite well over 1 Million cars being produced , there is just onw known specimen in SL afaik :(

was just about to comment on dilesh's post when i saw this.....seems you've already told everything(and more) i wanted to say about the ol' CV... :grinning-smiley-003:

btw i dont think the F430 even deserves to be on this list,it's not that special...the F355 is more of a worthy candidate

As with most joe-public reader votes its never going to be very accurate. Its far better to have a handful of auto experts/critics to vote on something like this one.

I'm baffled by the absence of the Ferrari 250 series (and the inclusion of the F430 - the Scuderia maybe...) and the '30s Alfa 8C (down at #88)

Aston DB9????? :o Ahead of the 911 :angry: Silly Brits! Ford Escort??? :( London Taxi in 240Z out :o ?? One surprising omission is the MGB - Britain's favourite Classic Car!

The more I look at the list the more disappointing it gets. I give up!

what?! i was only aware of the Blue :unsure: car...

who has the others?? :o

hmmm worth having in a personal collection someday :D

The guy who owns the Alfa Spider owns 3. There are at least 3 others with others excluding the blue one.

haiyoooooo........

So in 1 word, tell me are you FOR Toyota or AGAINST it..... hehehehehe!!!

Toyota USED to make some awesome vehicles.... And i'd argue their 4x4's still are great. Its the "White bread" crap like Corollas, Allions and such that i dislike.
