If some body can advice me to find out a good mechanic or place who has good knowledge of ford cortina mk3 to do all the jobs necessary is great.iam living near to malabe.

Will it damage the original look if replace the rims with alloys, please advice me.

Thanks

Hay Nice Project.... Hope you do well and pls do post pics on the project. I can't be of much help but My farther owned a ESCOT GT. Hence Alloy's will look GREAT.

I've got some spacers (4stud) and can give them to U. U can also try the Papiliyana Guy, call him and ask on 0773045927.

All the best man....

Some advice.

if really into Fords , buy a magazine called "Classicfords" - available at most good bookshops.

these are super, have invaluable advice and loads of suppliers in the Uk who have everything you need, and you can get some great pictures for painting ideas too.

Keep it as original as possible or if modifying - stick to the original specs of the modified versions at least.

example : Take ford 2 door escort and make it into a Mexico ...etc

All the best with your project.

regards

Pradefred

Chip Foose, the guy in "Overhaulin" does a great job in modifying classic cars without destroying the original look... To me that guy improves the old classic into a modern classic...

I rarely miss this program on discovery travel and living...

You can get decent ideas about painting, wheels, interior etc etc...

good luck with the project and please do share your progress if possible :)

I'm also a big fan of older fords :)

Yeah..thats a nice program...but one thing I dont like with 'Overhauling' is that they most of the time swap the engine.

i think the last program i watched...they completely overhauled the cars existing motor cos it was supposed to be one legendary engine :)

I guess they make an assessment to see if the project or the "overhaulee" needs a new motor or not and do whichever is the best...

That bugger is one talented fella... I also being in the design industry...envy that guys drawing skills and visualizing skills... one heck of a designer...

have you checked the guys website?

The Corti always looks like it could take a bigger engine. In Oz there are 2.8 and 4.1 straight six Cortis. I'm sure you could get one for a very low price if you have anyone to pick one up. Probaby even cheaper than doing a twin weber side draught conversion. You may also need some of those running gear to handle the extra torque.

I drove a 2.8 and it flew. Scary to imagine what the 4.1 will be like.

I did not realize that there were Mk3 two doors until recently someone spoke about one. Can't recall who......

Btw I see a white Ford Taunus fast back in Biyagama. It's got the obligatory Japanese diesel conversion but the body seems good.

Now that someone would be me.. :action-smiley-060:

by the way I almost got this car for a good price before SOMEONE educated me on a so called SUD. MK3, 1300, Red car was parked down park road one year back owned by a guy living in a Flat. It had lot of potential as it was also a running car!

Yeah I saw this car too.. went and ask a lady at the shop and she said its not for sale. Nice car though.

If any one knows of a capri for sale for a decent price I would be interested/ part exchange with a Ford Cortina MK4

Cheers
