BTW guys, managed to repair the car from a small garage near Sri Jayawardenepura hospital. Well, the finish is reasonably good and also the cost. Lucky enough to clear the car within 3 thee days. Importantly the garage managed to do some additional paint work for me under the same cost. :party-smiley-019:

Well I suppose most garages don't take a personal interest in their work. It is very difficult to find a good place to do a paint job without mucking it up. They use inferior paints, do not match colours, do not cover properly other areas on which the paint is not applied and the list goes on. Also most of these garages are not amenable to criticism. When I was looking for a vehicle I kind of developed this knack of deciding whether a paint has been done on a particular place or not. I was not really good at it, but it is a growing skill in my case. It is my opinion (and correct me if I am wrong) that an experienced eye howevermuch professionally a paint job/touchup has been done, could say whether a fresh paint has been done. So even if you have full insurance, if some person hits your vehicle for no fault of your own still you are in a mess. As it is very difficult to get at least a decent paint job done and it will always show to the keen eye.

In my (very humble) opinion it's a WOMBAT to look for a non touched up car if you're looking at used vehicles which has been on the road for more than 3-4 years. Driving conditions on the roads are sub-optimal and however safe you drive, there will be someone careless enough to put a scratch or dent in you and that has to be dealt with (in an average day I suffer nearly 20 near misses with bikes and trishaws invading my space and over an year I will hv plenty of smudges, chips or even scratches to show for it).

So, it's not the most productive thing to look for re-paints, rather to be able to identify major bodywork and chassis damage could be important. These days I would say the traffic is slow enough so the 'most' accident damages are negligible, say compared to careless driving which could wreck a suspension or ill-maintenance which could wreck an engine.

Crosswind, may I suggest you pay a visit to Autoforce as well if you're comparing - iirc, they also use the De Beer system which Arabian uses.

In any case, if you build a rapport with the supervisor allocated for your job and insist on your exact parameters and keep an eye on the work in progress (easier said than done), you'll get what you need. If it's a one-day job, I'll spend some time at the place.

Thx 4 the tip bro. I do know Sajjad and his work is quite good. That's one place I also considered. But just like you said, their paint work is good but Arabian is a notch higher than Autoforce when it comes to paint work. I know I sound very picky but I was just wondering if there's any place better than Arabian for paint work...

BTW has anyone been to Spreymech recently?

I'm not sure about the quality of work at Mr. P@int, but I do know that they try every bit to rip you off. Had some personal experience with them where they had this 50% off deal (where they actually reduce the first 50K of the job) through a popular local deal site and I was lucky enough not to purchase the voucher before going to get a quotation. My initial estimate was 130,000 (which means that it comes to 80,000 if I have the voucher) and when I revealed that I am hoping to get the car painted with the use of the voucher, they were cunning enough to send me a quotation for 180,000. (Long story short.)

After some arguments with the management, I gave them the finger and made sure that the deal was taken off the site as well by making a complaint.

I finally got it done at Ford agent, who outsource their work to Uni-Walkers (both companies are part of Softlogic group). The charge was 53k for a bumper, fender and a door but the job was nothing short of perfect. You just can't see that its repainted.

If you want to know a guy for a cheap decent job, I can recommend a small timer with a home-workshop who will do a decent job.

Please PM me the details of the home-workshop. Thanks !
