Nissan GT-R SpecV by Mine’s

Mine’s, the top Japanese GT-R tuning firm, is currently focusing on the GT-R SpecV although it does not claim ownership of the black performance car. Mine’s is presently in the process of research on the most expensive Japanese vehicle on the market (worth 15,750,000 Yen or $175,000) which premiered last February 2 in Japan.

The remarkable stock GT-R has received heavy improvements to transform it into a SpecV. It comes with Ray aluminum wheels in black finish with unique Bridgestone high-grip non-flat rubber. The engine, a VR38DETT, has been tuned although the total power yield is the same. The SpecV comes with a High Geared Boost which boosts the pressure on the turbocharger in real time increasing torque up to 608Nm (62.0kgm). This aims at heightening mid to high range torque.

Other features include a titanium exhaust system that optimizes exhaust resitance plust a fin and rear air diffuser to improve cooling.

Vehicle weight was effectively lowered by 60kg (132lbs) by getting rid of all unnecessary amenities like the rear seats and others. This performance vehicle is fit for the tracks and not for the road. Outside everything is in carbon. What Mine’s will do to a car based on the SpecV is anybody’s guess, but it’s pretty exciting just waiting for it to come to pass

something tells me Andrew isn't going to be incredibly pleased with the title of this article...

Nissan working on GT-R Spec-M: A GT-R for the ladies

We’re not sure why but there is apparently a market for Nissan GT-Rs with a smoother and more refined ride. If the Nissan GT-R is considered a high-performance supercar, the Nissan GT-R SpecV is an even more hard-going, rough version that allows for increased performance.

In come the violins and some Mozart and you get the Nissan GT-R SpecM. Unlike the GT-R SpecV’s firm suspension, the GT-R SpecM will get a softer, more refined setup and will also include ripple control shock to absorb the bumps.

Nissan will also offer a wider, more luxurious choice of interior trims to go after a more upmarket shopper. That means you’ll see wood grain trim finishes and such. Pricing is expected to start around 13 million Yen ($132,228 USD) - which is significantly less than the 16 million Yen ($162,742 USD) price tag of the Nissan GT-R SpecV.

Nissan revealed earlier this year that they will be making a competitive entry into the FIA GT Championship for 2010 with a Nissan R35 GT-R built to GT1 specifications. In collaboration with NISMO and Gigawave Motorsports the car will be entered into four races in 2009 for testing and development. The first race it will be entered into is Silverstone, round 1 on May 3rd 2009.

Today specifications are out and the car was photographed testing at the Paul Ricard HTTT facility in the south of France during the media function and first official test day for the 2009 championship season.

As predicted the GT1 GT-R features a front mounted naturally aspirated V8 engine, a VK56DE with a displacement of 5,552cc. The VK develops 600hp and more than 650Nm of torque. It’s mated to a Ricardo 6 speed transaxle via a 5.5″ carbon triple plate clutch. All this drives only the rear wheels. Carbon brakes and pads all round are clamped by 6 piston front and 6 piston rear calipers. Putting the power to the ground are 18″ x 13″ Rays forged wheels all round.
