quite strange that they can't reduce the number of cars during qualifiers i mean isn't that why they are called qualifiers????

They do. Generally by crashes and breakdowns. :D

Anyway, if they had watered the track to the level it was at for the T&J event, I think even the supercars wouldn't have had such a big problem. First lap, last corner onto the straight, I'm sure some of them were just driving on faith that the track was clear and the corners were around somewhere, coz for sure they couldn't see a thing. I saw a few shadows passing in the dust cloud, DD's number 88 on the rear went by without seeing a car attached to it, crazy speed in that dust. Was worse coz AP apparently tapped Pasindu in the back and caused a spin, causing a whole lot more dust to get thrown up.

you think manish's car is beyond help???

the frame too seems to have bent with the roof also collapsing...

that's some heavy damage...

if not for the roll cage that car would've been just a pile up warped metal... glad everybody was ok even after such a major crash...

My mum was at the track and she called me as the accident happened cos she knew id be mad upset... so i knew bout 30 seconds after it happened... its a shame cos maneesh's subaru had spun and resulted in the 2 blue evo's smashing into him and all 3 cars had been lying across the track, my uncle saw the accident and braked hard and came to a complete stop in front of the cars...the track was so freaking dusty that dinesh im guessing did not see my car stopped and pretty much ploughed into the back of the STi... and thus shot the STi into the cars in front that were already in the accident... maneesh's car definelty took the worst impact...its a shame cos now we have 6 supercars out of racing for a bit... :(

so your uncle was racing your car.....

Speaking of winners, Awesome display by Gayan S to bitchslap the no 1 Indian motocross rider. :D Don't think he ever stood a chance.

ditto that :)

our guys just rocked :)

them poor indians with that huge population to draw people out of still failing to beat our guys :) :) :)

and to make it worse...the tvs team bike gave trouble and they had to borrow a bike from our guys :)

not very good for TVS's image IMHO :)

Also the other funny thing was the exide branded pick up truck having a bad battery and needed to be pushed to get a start :) :)

Was at Senok this morning- there was another hammered rally-prepped black STi (GC8) which looked like it had just rolled/landed on its roof....not sure if its one of the victims from the Sigiriya...but its relieving to see that the rollcage (albeit may not be FIA spec) did its job of protecting the driver...

As the works manager said sadly...its been a rough week for the Scoobys!

That one rolled in Saturday practice. It was a bad weekend for the 3 GCs.

Managed to process a few pics and upload it on to FB

Didn't publish the album to my profile cos still i have a few more to upload to complete it... but i guess some folks have already managed to dig it up so here goes the link

http://www.face book.com/album.php?aid=162176&id=607877343&l=88a23dcfd0

i will update it with the super car events and the other stuff later :)

dude has taken down the pics so i'm taking off the post!

Glad the dude took the pictures down. Knowing how annoyed I get when friends and family post/grab pictures without posting up photo credits, I can imagine how pissed you must have been when some total stranger stole pictures.

As for shallow depth of field at 2.8 and not really needing it for a motor-sports event I'll take your work for it as I've never really covered such an event. I guess as you mentioned: there's so much light at the type of events that you and Pericles attend that such a large aperture is never really needed despite shooting at higher shutter speeds...

yeah...though those pics were not exactly top of class...was pretty pissed off to see it on another guys fb album!

after all that running about, eating dust, sun burn, long ass drive and not to mention time and money spent etc etc...

suppose most our guys are in sensitive to all that and doesn't give a hoot!

on shutter speeds...so far... i don't think i've gone over 1/500 and mostly i shoot at 1/320... and for panning i go down to 1/60 1/80 range...

anyways...need an L lens badly now :(

maybe next time somebody is coming down from US..and most importantly me having the spare cash to spend on a hobby that's doesn't pay back one bit....
