I was wondering whether any of you have come across a place in SL that repairs Turbochargers. Or even a place that have repair kits or brand new/repaired turbochargers for sale.

I contacted them today and figures for Toyota 3c turbo as follows.

Full repair = 25000

Warranty = 6 month

p.s. they claim that they are using genuin parts

The problem with that is; how long is the used one (aka reconditioned) you bought going to last?

Yes.Its the same with engines.If you get a crappy used one you're screwed.Some guys repair turbos here better than the manufacturer.

You are correct I remember there was a mechanic at Colombo Commercial company he is not living any more use to repair turbos of high H/P generator engines at the sites in Srilanka. There was a another mechanic who was trained in Singapore for caterpillar engines he too used to repair turbos at sites one thing I noticed he used to be careful to mark every thing before dismantling the turbo unit this is I think not to disturb the factory balance of the shaft and the two turbo fans. In the turbos main problem was engine oil leaking to inlet thereby engine used to rev up they had repair kits to change oil seals bushes and fix them up perfectly.

Thats an easy way to kill an engine, unless you change the pistons, cooling kit, even the fuel pump etc..

No idea mate, not in touch with motoring lately.. esp turbos

and btw after doing all that the block might not hold... since theres no turbo variant,

and the costs may sum up to a turbo engine itself..

This post of mine is not a Advertisement.

There are lot of Turbo repairers in Srilanka I find lot of new members write to the forum can they fix Turbo charges to normal engines I would lite to suggest I am not Advertising this place but I have directed lot of my known friends and relatives to the undermentioned place they never complained to me regarding his service after getting their turbos repaired.

Al members who wants to get advise please contact Mr. Mendis of MENDIS AUTO ENGINEERS 0778621700 at Kandana. He will explain and request to come to his repair station as without examining the turbo and the engine no repairer can quote.

It is better any one who wants his services first contact him on his mobile and visit him to get a job done.

Buy Brand new. I have repaired mine from Turboc!ty and other guys....Dont last for too long and even when they fix it, it is under power. their warrantee is not worth it.

Hi, I am from kilinochchi, i repaired the turbo from turbocity but they didn't repair that, they only painted the color. They did not repair the oil leak. I paid 45000/= after I asked for my money back. After that, he shouted at me with bad words," Don't go there. I am not recommended. After I went to turboLanka, they repaired my turbo well and gave me a 6th month warranty.
