Was trolling the AL classifieds the other day and came across these three cars within a few thousand bucks of each other so i figured it might make an interesting thread for amusement

The budget is 1.5 Million, if you needed a 4 door sedan and were given the choice of these cars , which one would you chose to buy and use as a daily driver for a year?

Only these choices since this is just a "for fun" idea so don't suggest anything else. Just pick one and explain your choice.

Option number 1, the safe choice.

Old but quite reliable, well known, parts are not hard to find and can be fixed by any siripala and gunapala whether in kompannaveediya or kalmunai. Boring as hell though and did i mention old?

Option Number 2, the left field choice.

Much newer, much more kit, comfy and plush. Holding together fairly well with not too many complicated gizmos to break. Parts are a bit more tough than option 1 but still available. Fixable by most people who know what they're doing.

Option Number 3, The newest choice

All important "K Numbers", quite new but not exactly well proven.

Wildcard Option..

Of course, this is the one i'd take.... Negotiate it down a bit more and put the remainder in the bank for "unexpected problems", as well as Taxi fare and what not....

Okay gents.... what say you?

If i really had to live with one of them, i would go for the Geely

so. Option 3.

it gives more value for money, and as with any car, if i maintain it properly without abusing it, it might be proven.

Why i wont buy a Carina.

its ugly, there is no other way of putting it, the back end looks like it crashed before it left the factory. Also its just a 'car', there is nothing more to it.

The reason why i wont have the Daewoo, is its hideous face, just cant be happy with that. and it looks and sounds like a washing machine to me

The alfa. though it would be the most interesting choice. No offence VVT-i but personally for me, the 164 is not the best looker among the old alfa's. way too boxy for my taste

and i wouldn't be able to properly maintain the car to pass on for the next buyer. Which will be a total waste.

Well...

Here r my reasons for the Daewoo

1. I have never driven a leganza myself but i have driven a chevrolet/holden epica, which is the successor of leganza. Its bloody comfortable and a sheer pleasure to drive. If the leganza is 1/10 as good as epica, that would be enough

2. Amongst koreans of that vintage, i have noticed daewoos holding out their build qualitY better than their ethnic brothers. After all, they were a General Motors product

truethat the neighborhood sillara kade doesnt stock parts for daewoos but im sure u can find anything if u try.

Btw i heard that geely spares r dirt cheap. In fact they r by far the cheapest spares in the country. So it would be good news for someone who likes chinese things. :-)

None taken... I didn't design it.... :)

But the design was cutting edge in 1986 when it first came out, one of the first cars to use CAD/CAM for designing. And the fact that Pinninfarina did the design still gets positive nods by people who really appreciate car designs. It may be boxy by today's standards but none of the cars in this list can come near it when it comes to brute performance.

In fact, it is in embarrassing company... :)

Alfa's offer such good value for money! Such a lot of car for little money..... Honestly, if I spent more time in SL I would buy a couple! But you do need to bank some money for repairs, niggles, but also to get the car transported to a specialist because the guy round the corner might ruin it trying to fix it when things go wrong.

So wild card it is for me.

On a side point that Bluebird SU14 is good value for money as well. Has no go, as under powered but very comfortable and good boot. Good family car.
