With the intel i got, she might come to my collage next wednesday around 12noon -2pm

i will be waiting for it and if she turns up i will ask about the car and try to take a look myself.

and seriosuly. they way it was and the way its effed up now :( its seriously sad

E28 is a proper classic now. what on earth happend to this?

and the paint job is pealing away from every corner. whoever did this has done everything extremely cheaply

Supra the original engine was a fuel injected one right? im assuming M20B20?

What happened was probably some Sylvi type bugger decided to "improve" it and make it "more modern". Plus in Sri Lanka it's an Old BMW with a 6 cylinder engine so that inself means people would avoid it, leaving it to fall into the hands of a joker like this one.

Yup, it had the M20B20, with an Automatic box.

This is just plain sad... probably the worst kind of humiliation one can do to such a beautiful machine.

Oh dear god! I am completely lost for words to describe that thing. It hurts even more for me because this very car used to belong to one of my good friends some years ago and it was beyond mint back then! It's one of the very last E28s, assembled in South Africa as a 1988 model, after the E34 had gone into production.

The car was as I said beyond mint when my friend had it but after he sold it things went south and the car passed through the hands of several jokers who hacked it. It surfaced again about two years back at a dodgy car seller in wellawatte and my friend and I went to see it with the hope of rescuing it but there was just too much to do considering the price being asked (900k!). It was still fairly original externally back then so i guess a subsequent owner did this hack job.

Anyway, schiffer, please do try and contact the owner and if you don't mind can you find out whether it still has it's original mechanicals? If thats the case I will seriously consider picking her up for a complete working over. Do check and let me know.

Here's a shot of the car in it's heyday.... this would have been about 2003/2004.

I still cant get over this... damn! :(

Wow... a pretty sad story there. Really wish this deal would work out so you guys can rescue her...

Schiffer should kill it with fire immediately!!

sounded like a 6 pot bimmer.. well loud..

but :o if its really got a toyota heart and a tranny

there is no hope for this car anymore :(

could it be possible that the car was converted to diesel and the cheap ass owner 'forgot' to register it..

anyway i am quite skeptic about it having the original engine. would such a cheapo pump petrol for a 6pot?

Moving all posts on that E28 to this thread since she rather deserves her own thread.... Lets see if we can do something to bring the old lady back

Crying tears of Bavarian blood :(

But seriously, if we could save her, it'd be an awesome dericing/deidiotization project. I'd pitch in whatever help I could, just hope its financially feasible...

I was just thinking, the original engine and transmission would be nice to have but they weren't very exciting anyway, Since there are quite a few bigger BMW sixes kicking around, it might make sense to put in a bigger six with a manual box if ressurection is going to happen. Of course that would mean all sorts of headaches with ECUs and wiring etc I suppose.

Esdeez can you ask "Dr E34" what his opinion will be on the feasibility of such a project?

The person behind the modification did not respect the people behind the making of this car.

Recently I saw a three wheeler with a BMW badge!!!!

im gonna talk to the lady who drove this Frankenstein and ask her about the car

I think I'll join you. :sport-smiley-005:

Oh so sad,

Was this the ex Embassy car,

this was in use daily around 2001-03 around Nawala / Nugegoda,

a young BMW enthusiast who was working for BP De Silva's use to own it.

Our eyes will fill with tears if we see this one....
