I just emailed Komi about the contact info; but I am not 100% certain on where I stand on this and as I mentioned earlier would depend on its current state and urgency of starting the resto work.

So if you are feeling quite passionate about it; I could take a back seat on this one.

I'd say, go with the Escort...I'm VERY biased towards Mk1s though! :sport-smiley-004: Is it a two-door 1300?

Hi,

I was looking for a 2 door Escort MK1. The idea was to turn it into a Mexico replica, with the flared arches (Did you call them forest arches)? Seems like the arches are available for about 200 Euros. But I want to put in a RS1600 engine as well if its gonna be a Mexico replica. My only concern was sourcing a RS1600 engine.

But I love the 510 as well. So what ever I can get my hands on first will win! Im ok with either of them..

Okay so here is the deal;my dad went to the garage on the pretext of something else done; and started talking about the 510 (apparently it needs a lot of TLC to get it in proper order). Anyway had inquired about it and the baas who was there had said is fixing it and is waiting for "original parts" and as far as he knows it is not for sale. But since it has been some time he had called the owner and apparently the owner had asked for my dad's number saying that he was busy at the time and will call back later. He hasn't called yet and this was on Saturday. So it seems like the owner might be on the fence on it. As i am not there in SL I don't want to start pushing for it from miles away.

So Sampath if you are interested I could pass on the info Komi passed on to me.

They're called 'forest rally arches' but commonly called bubble arches. If you're going ahead with the Mk1 though, I'd be glad to help you! :sport-smiley-004:

Hi,

I put my money where my mouth is (:)) and put down my money on a Ford Escort 2 door. It's in pretty good nick, probably can run it with a little bit of sprucing up.. But I am going to attempt a full blown restoration by stripping the car, de-rusting it and then changing color. I am hoping to add bubble arches and also swap the engine to something more powerful from the measly 1100 motor which is on it now.

So, Komi and iRage, the 510 is all yours or who ever else's who wants to try and restore it. Thanks for sharing the contact info. In the end I went for the escort as it was a 2 door as opposed to 510 being a 4 door.

@Jaliya, hopefully I can put a Escort RS1600 replica on the road in a few months time.
