Please PM me the price they quated per sqare foot, or the average amount it will cost for a montero 2013 if possible.

And if you do the soundproofing please keep us updated.

On phone they quoted 1000per sheet but when I visited them price was 2000

I'm still researching as I now found that roof sealing sheets similar to peel and seal (Google it) works a charm at fraction of the cost.

For all those interested I'm testing out those peel and seal stuff. Will report findings in a few days. Put a few strips in the boot. But I want to see if any unusual smells are given out and how effective

Before you dive in, look into how reversible it is. As in, how you can effectively take it out completely. That tar like stuff bonds pretty hard and might give you a bigger headache than the one you have now. Due to the harsher heat we have in SL, it might react differently thatn what you may have seen on Youtube, so having a solid exit plan in place is cruicial IMO.

Yes correct. Thats why I pasted only a few small strips. But generally speaking one wouldn't need to take it out if things are going okay. Anyway will report findings in a few days :)

Thanks,

How many sqare feet did they tell would cover you'r car,

A rought idea on how much it would be for the montero?

And did they say that we could remove it easyly withoud damging the interior or paint.

Nope the 3200cc but the engine is different from the europian and JDM versions due to the low quality fuel we have here.

Is 4M41 right? probably detuned

Well roughly per door you may need 3-4 sheets depending on if you want to put it on the inside panel an out. so you can roughly do the math. Didn't ask about removal, generally you wouldn't want to remove once you put it on would you?

This is specifically for heat reduction, so I doubt it will be good at soundproofing.

As per the site it says it can be used for both. anyway one way to find out i guess if no one has used it before :)

This is used for heat reduction and not for sound proofing. There are several types of these which used primarily for reducing the heat such as for ceiling, engine compartment (Mostly on older vehicles)...

yep 4M41,

@istowner

I don't like it if it sticks like tar to the paint,

even tough it may be useful and expensive when it got to go it should go, if not you can't use it in a 10million worth vehicle

It's a Toyota IST

Toyota IST is generally a noisy car. Get your vehicle checked up by a good mechanic and run it as it is. If those sound proofing methods are good they should be coming as a factory fitted option...

In the monty's case they really do come but in trims such as the super exceed which is almost twise as expensive as a normal one which is outrageous.

The sound proofing in the GLX is much lower so i decided to get it to a little bit more quiet by using these any experience?

Any new updates?

I feel i need to get it done soon

comments from any one who has done it

May not be relevant, but recently I opted for a 3M style dust strap carpet (faux) saw a massive reduction in road noise, you maybe missing a layer

I started on it but never got to finish the project. If you use the right product there's an improvement but it's a hard job in a sense as it takes a very long time to do it properly. You can outsource it :) but can be expensive.

IST is not a noisy car but if your shocks are bad then yes it can be and tyre condition. You can't do too much on these cars though since hatchbacks are inherently more noisier than a sedan. Having said that you can certainly do reduce it a lot by proper sound damping material however as mentioned before, it will be a hectic job. So depends on how badly you want it :).

I recently asked from p*tc* L*nk* and they told me it would be around Rs.10 000 for the vehicle, seems good if it really works,

that's why i asked if there is some one here who tried it

That's probably just for the doors. You need about 2 sheets per door and a sheet is about 1000 each so price is about right. However i wanted to do the rear boot floor and sides as well which is where the most noise in a hatch comes from. That's the hardest part imo and will cost a lot more.
