There are plenty of sweet turbo charged and non turbo charged japanese kei cars. However some what more pricier than your jpn Alto. Also parts availability at the moment i guess would be next to nothing compared to Sathyajith's list. butthen ppl do maintain much rarer cars. Depends on how adventurous u r in that department. Still cheaper thsn your avg Aqua

There's a nice looking car (yet to be released) by perodua called axia - looks great. Vitz, Passo and Belta hatch are below 1000cc category too.

Unimo Enterprise Limited an importer of the Malaysian manufactured Perodua Cars in Sri Lanka said that the Unimo Enterprise Limited stop importing the Perodua VIVA Elite to Sri Lanka and there won’t be any new Prices for the Perodua Viva Elite with reduction of tax stated in budget.

But instead of Perodua Viva Elite Unimo Enterprise limited going to import brand New Perodua Axia car to Sri Lanka. the official confirm there is no pricing has done yet but the car is expected to be Rs. 2.5 Million, where Perodua VIVA Elite was Rs. 2.235 Million before tax reduction.

There is another side to hybrid story. In the event of low fuel costs and high hybrid car prices, the hybrid market is going to be frozen, in the long run. There will be very low demand in the second hand hybrid car market. Hybrid accessories will be highly priced and service costa excalated. Something like what happend to Mazda brand, in the past.

Every govt has failed to have a corporate view and long term planning in terms of the vehicle needs of this country. It is purely an economic factor. The country should be able to finance the capital outflow. It is all bullshit that, they think of the poor to own a vehicle. The poor will have to pay thro nose, somewhere else.

However we all must agree that as a consequence of popularity for hybrids helps a lot to bring down the overblown prices of used crappy vehicles in Sri Lanka to some extent. For instance we had seen 20 years old diesel 110s going for 2.4M sometime back but hardly sold for 1.6M very recently. So the vehicle prices were moving towards a stage where it should be gradually due to hybrids which might have beena major blow to the group of people who used to earn money by selling the vehicles which deserved demolition to super higher prices.

Exactly. They have bought down the overblown prices of used crappy vehicles and replaced them with the overblown prices of used crappy hybrids. Eitherway, its all crappy. Bless everyone.

I don't know what's happening with the government.. things are changing pretty quick over last couple of weeks lol

The article is about a discussion between the importers and the JVP. This has nothing to do with the government.

Are you one of those people looking for a banana peel on the road to blame the yaha-palanaya? :D
